Bridging organization
Set Up: Get students into groups of 4 and divide class so there are 2 groups working at the same time. Set 2
cones for starting line and 2 for the finish/tri line.
Equipment: 6 balls, 8 cones
Explanation: Get students into groups before explaining the drill and key teaching points with a demonstration.
Once they get to the other side of the field, run back down the side line and pass ball back to waiting groups.

Bridging organization
Set Up: Get students to stay in groups of 3 and keep the division of the class so there is still 2 groups working
at the same time. Nominate 2 defenders on each game, also nominate an umpire for each game to watch the
backwards pass. Change once they have had an appropriate amount of time. Need students to set up fields
with the tri line.
Equipment: 2 balls, 2 whistles, and cones for the try lines.
Explanation: Get students into groups before explaining the drill and key teaching points with a demonstration.
Explain that they need to focus on the key points that were explained through the whole lesson. There will be
NO tackling but if the player is touched they must pass the ball.

Game Sense Split class into

two 2V3
Two games occur on the field.
Practice passing backwards to
advance forwards past the
opposition. Two vs. three; Three
attackers, two defenders.
Opponents into a square area to
begin play. Next game starts as
soon as first game finishes. Next
group must be ready. Encourage
a tri. If intercepted, defender can
also score. Rotate through.
Change defenders and umpires
once teams have gone through
a few times.

Time limit to collect equipment or nominate a team
Teacher summarises the lesson KTPs and lesson objectives

Transition: (What needs to happen prior to the next lesson?)

Next lesson will be our 3rd lesson in our 5 week touch program and we will be moving onto the role of a dummy
half
You need again come prepared with a water bottle and hat. If you have a whistle at home also bring it as we will be
umpiring games like we did today.
Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be judged?)
The students will be assessed through informal assessment during the lesson. The teacher will observe the
students attempting the various objectives. These will be formally assessed through an observational checklist
during the tournament in the last week.
