Entry 2: Technology to Enhance Instruction

Integrating Instructional Technology
The educational path through technology has become very advanced within a short
amount of time. Most schools are intergraded in technology as early as the K through 12 grade
levels, use technology as its main source to explore and discover how to become creative in the
art of learning. According to Cannistraci, L. (2011). Technology is a versatile tool that can be
learned and used in the classroom to improve a teachers technique towards teaching and
improve students learning abilities. Through proper use of technology education can enhance the
learning experience. However, in order for a quality of education to be achieved, the integrating
of technology must teach more than just fundamental basic computer skills, but must educate
students and teachers alike to become actively engaged in groups participation, have frequent
interaction discussions and ultimately achieve real world critical thinking skill.
Podcasting and Blogging
The innovation of technology has become global to the extent that more people from
other parts of the world can become visually connected. The voice and opinions of students and
teachers have a platform that can be created and designed to capture an individuals personality
without ever having the comfort of their own home. According to Kim, D., & Jang, S. E. (2015)
the use of podcasting and blogging allows for the design of a podcast and blog to be socially

shared and has developed into a cultural practice. Through the use of this technology, teachers
can develop a means of communication and lesson plans that can be accessed and viewed for
participating and completing assignments. This technique gives the teacher opportunity to have
students learn how they also can create their own podcasts and blogs. What In turn is being
taught and learned are reading skills, writing skills to either an existing or new language
development, and a critical thinking approach to creativity.
Anthropomorphized Robots (RALL)
A technology behind a new trend that has been developed called Robot-Assisted
Language Learning (RALL) is providing teaching effectiveness and student motivation.
According to Zeng-Wei, H., Yueh-Min, H., Hsu, M., & Wei-Wei, S. (2016) robots can assist
teachers in learning English as a foreign language. These robots speak the native language and
will converse with the students. The interaction between the two supports and improves teaching
a foreign language because students are less uneasy and respond in a more positive manner to
learning a new language. What makes this kind of technology interesting, is the motivation of
keeping the students yearning to continue in learning and accomplishing their goals.
Media and Movies
Technology incorporates many ways to deliver information and ways to keep focused on a
subject matter at hand. None can be better used than by viewing content. When done in a skillful
manner media and movies can bridge together content and a students understanding to catch
what is being viewed. This is because media and movies can raise discussion, implement
learning and emphasize ideas which are being taught through a textbook or classroom lecture.
Through media and movies connects students to their learning and way of living environment.
Students gain powerful means to learning because through media and movies they become

socially engages with others about in discovering common problems and developing critical
thinking strategies as either in a group setting or as an individual learner.
Pros and Cons of using Technology to Facilitate Learning (200-300 words)
The learning experience in the 21st century is advanced with many ways use technology.
The classrooms themselves, include sophisticated means to technology. Students have been
exposed to using technology long before they start school their very first day of school. They
have become native to gadgets, devices and are fully aware of the technical aspects considering
technology. There are a good number of reasons why technology plays a positive role to
education. A few of the reasons have to do with the understanding that technology has many
features at an individuals finger tips. When a student has a problem with a subject matter and
they are not in school they can find help by virtually using something like YouTube to find step
to step examples to difficult subjects like mathematics. There are also so many ways for a teacher
to make learning interesting and create attention grabbing lesson plans to keep the students focus
on different subject matters. However, there can be down falls with all the technology at hand.
According to Ruggieri, M. (2005) at some point the even the newest of technology can start to
become boring. Causing students to lose interest. It is important to blend lesson plans with
technology and first generation teaching.
Wired and Wireless Classrooms (100-200 words)
Technology has made many advances over the years and becoming wireless is no
exception. Many people are using the internet for many reasons. However, wireless is what most
people use to make their web needs more environmental friendly. According to Gunter, G., &
Gunter, R. (2015) access to technology can take place anywhere from classrooms to vehicles like
school bus, car and even at outdoor activity areas. Technology is everywhere and being wireless

gives easy access to information at any time. Things like TV antennas are wireless as well.
Wireless networks have made it possible to do away with the old fashion telephone and have
been replaced by cell and smart phones.
Conclusion
Technology is a constant game changer globally and education is in the front lines to its
understanding and execution of the learning process. Students have become native to technology
and teachers are required to learn and keep the momentum to the learning environment fresh, in
order to keep students attention and continue the focus towards achieving their goals. There are
many ways to include technology into the classroom including Podcasting and Blogging, which
serve as a platform for teachers and students or users alike. The use of robotic, media and movies
can help keep students focus on learning. However, the use of too much technology can cause
students to lose interest in learning and cause the momentum to stop. It is important as an
educator to provide a blend of technology and incorporate good first generation learning into the
equation of lesson planning to keep teachers challenges in a changing fashion and keep the
students thinking that first generation learning skills are new.
