Simon Bolivar: A Call for Change (1783- 1830)

Queen Mufty-Raimi
In this project I would like to convey Simon Bolivars call for change in
Latin America. My focus is directed to show how Bolivar spent days of life
fighting for these countries to see their political standings. He was able to
make many political changes to countries he colonized although his call for
change was along a treachery. Bolivar made long lasting changes to the
South America countries and the countries are now benefiting from him
socially, politically, and economically. Through his effort, he was able to unify
the countries from Spain.
To have a full understanding on my project, I would like to present
questions that will perceive Simon Bolivars call for change in Latin America
societies. First, I would like to address the question of what was Simon
Bolivars view of human nature. Next, I would like to discuss the question of
how Simon Bolivar political views affect Venezuela and other countries
colonized. Lastly, I would like to report the question of the effect did Simon
Bolivar have politically, economically, and socially in Venezuela.
My first question compacts the view of human nature to Bolivar.
Bolivar was known to have oppose certain aspects about human nature.
Extracted from the text it states But a Spanish colonist was hardly a free
man 1this statement can be used as a purpose for Bolivar to fight for Latin

America independence. In other accounts it notes that he had a romantic

revolutionary during his time as a leader. He also had a close association
with multiple women that betrayed him and he really didnt have any friends.
In the history of bolivar it has been prominent that bolivar ignored his father
figures and rather entertained women and this caused the loss in some of his
battles. It has been confirmed that Bolivar had a brittle background
because of his human nature.
My second question contracts the political views of Simon Bolivar.
Bolivar believed that the South America needed their political upright from
Spain. He started a political movement called the Bolivian Revolution.
Bolivar decided to free the African American slaves in order to get the South
American countries out of the Spanish rule. Bolivar was a politician that
believed that the African Americans were the key to taking control from
Spain. The African American served a role in the union that took over Spain.
The African American freedom was used for a defense in the war to regain its
lost power.
My third question conveys the effect of Bolivar socially, politically, and
economically on Venezuela. Bolivar was a very social person himself. In
previous accounts it has been noted that, Simon bolivar was an energetic
visionary and a good speaker2 this explains how he socially made Venezuela
socially advanced. Venezuela social relations with other countries were a

collaboration to regain their independence from Spain during the time.

During Bolivars time, he fought for social reform he had many ways of
stabilizing a strong government. He wanted the countries to interact with
people from different cultures. In doing this, there were wealthy landowners
along with African American slaves mingling with one another. He was able
to improve education for Venezuela and promote equality He focused on
independence for southern and northern America. He laid a foundation for
upcoming leaders of Venezuela on how to make decisions about the country
and a better way to stabilize it.
Bolivar was opposed about certain aspects of racial divisions and human nature. Bolivar
felt as if everyone was to be categorized the same and there should not be any differentiating.
Bolivar thought high of human nature and it contributed to Bolivar being a politician in various
places in South America. In the manuscript it mentions, It is impossible to say with any
certainty to which human race we belong3, this has been recorded from a statement Bolivar
made in the past about his views of human nature and racial divisions. The manuscript also notes
we will require an infinitely firm hand and an infinitely fine tact to manage all the racial
divisions, Bolivar believed in different racial divisions coming together as a person. He was
highly favored on making a non-judgmental society of racial divisions and human natures.
If the effect of Simon bolivars political view was to be analyzed in Venezuela some may
not agree because he conquered many other countries. In the text, it says The liberator loved

glory more than power 4, the source backs the statement up with the obstacles

Simon faced before he was able to achieve his glory. He spread his views to other
countries but primarily he spread it to Venezuela. Although, it is important to view the effect left
on Venezuela because thats where Bolivar formulated all his ideas. Bolivar fled to some
countries while he was trying to fight for independence and they got involved. By the end of the
1800s Bolivar political views had spread across to many countries in North and South America.
In this excerpt it states, . The more I admire the excellence of the Federal Constitution of
Venezuela, the more I am convinced of the impossibility of its application to our state,5 This
excerpt is told from a first person point of view and gives information about the fight for
independence in Venezuela. The statement demonstrated the actions taken in order to address
Venezuelas congress at angostura. The excerpt was very descriptive with Bolivars thoughts and
made it easier for readers to understand the purpose of the address at Angostura.
Simon bolivar is associated in many aspects of Venezuela. He is
associated with being a reformer, abolitionist, and politician. The history of
bolivar is exchanged with power, government, and politics. Simon bolivar
called for restoration and peace not for independence but the outcome was
independence and restoration. In several accounts it has been proven that
Bolivar restored almost all the latin countries. In the text it states Yet the
history of the Spanish American independence is incomprehensible without

Bolivar.6 This statement gives readers an insight on how bolivar played a

major role in independence for Spanish individuals.
Overall, some may believe that Bolivar wasnt a great leader and didnt hold
the qualifications of being a politician because of his thoughts. Bolivar did a
diligent job with trying to gain independence back for Latin America. Bolivar
undergone some obstacles for independence but some say for glory.
Bolivars views were not always accepted and respected. After researching,
Bolivar mightve never been who the world accepted bolivar to be but some
questions will be unsolved. Why was Bolivar seeking for glory? What would
happened if Bolivar didnt get Glory? Is Bolivar going to be respected after
viewing certain sources?
