Our Conflict With ISIS
The U.S. is at fault for the conflict that we have today with ISIS. The United States
meddled in the Syrian peoples problems. The U.S. thought they were doing what was right
instead of ignoring the people there. The U.S. offered help but when things got tough we decided
to butt out. The Syrian people had to defend themselves and lost trust in the U.S. and that is why
we are hated. ISIS would never have been created or been weaponized without the help of the
U.S.
The U.S. decided to aid the Syrians in the protest after they were being silenced with
violence. There were rebels who protected the people but they were outnumbered and lacked
materials to fight Assad the one attacking his own people. So the the U.S. decided to arm the
people and give them some type of training. Later on Obama says, a red line for us is chemical
weapons being utilized(Obama at War) which means if chemical weapons are being used the
U.S. would have no choice but to send troops in. The statement was a threat and it brought hope
to the Syrian people but Assad called his bluff and then Obama was trapped in a tight spot
because he couldnt or should i say didnt want to attack. The fact that Obama did nothing when
chemical weapons were introduced was kind of a betrayal to the Syrian people.
The Syrian people were disappointed and vulnerable because they had no one to protect
them from being massacred. Thats when the same rebels that the U.S. had armed went around

spreading the hatred for the U.S. They told the people that they would protect them and to not
trust the Americans because we are liars. That is how ISIS was created, which is the United
States fault when you look at it because we armed them and made them feel betrayed in a very
important time when they needed help. ISIS is a very dangerous organization now even to the
people they swore to protect. Their hatred for us now is kind of justified which is why we have
this conflict. There were so many other options we could of chose but we chose the one that
affected us in the long run.
Now we have this conflict with ISIS which we dont know how to deal with. ISIS has just
been getting bigger and bigger by controlling most of the sunni areas of Iraq and Syria. Jeh
Johnson says, terrorist networks like ISIS crowdsource jihad, advertising on twitter and
facebook and urging their followers to strike innocent civilians around the globe.(50) The
Syrians have the right to be angry at the world but what they are doing isnt right they are taking
their anger out on everyone even the innocent. Obama should take responsibility for the promises
he made and could not keep. Now the people from Syria and Iraq are out to get the whole world
and i think they just want people to feel the way they did when they saw their loved ones die.
The U.S. trying to invade Iraq in 2003 wasnt the best way to deal with terrorism. They
could of been more diplomatic about the whole situation but instead Bush got aggressive. Obama
isnt doing any better he thinks the only way to stop ISIS is to use violent measures and that is
the worst way to handle things. ISIS is just reminded of the time that the U.S. did nothing when
they were being killed. Thats the problem with American power we think we are so above
everyone else and that we can get anything we want. The reason we didnt help them in their
time of need is mostly because we werent gonna get anything from it. There were risks in

getting into a war but we didnt see them as worth it even though we wouldve most likely won.
Now that we are being attacked we are kind of trying to instill fear in them by hitting them hard
with force.
The U.S. cant silence people with fear they are just gonna revolt more. CNN says, In
the wake of the Paris terror attacks, president Obama took some very intense questions about
whether the united states is hitting ISIS hard enough.(War on ISIS) That just goes to show that
force is not the way to go theyll always rebel. ISIS wants to be heard and the U.S. is just
brushing them off. They have bombed ISIS around like 8,000 times if they didnt stop within the
first five what makes you think bombing them some more is going to accomplish. This is a very
delicate matter but the U.S. instead of killing more people innocent or not, they should try to hear
them out and understand how they feel. The only way to find peace is to understand one another
and youre not gonna do that by bombing each other. The only thing you will understand at that
point is pain and the U.S. needs to understand that. All we are doing by bombing them is getting
innocent people killed.
The U.S. is just prolonging this war instead of ending it and the longer we wait the more
people and countries are gonna become involved. In a way we are committing genocide because
slowly the whole world is starting to hate Syria and Iraq because of ISIS. The ones to blame are
us when we couldve done something. The whole world did nothing when they were being
attacked but once they attacked it became a big deal and everyone started to get involved. Sure
those attacks arent the way to get a point across but thats the way I see it and Im sure they see
it that way too.

Instead of throwing more air strikes or putting more troops we should just talk to them
because at the end of the day they are human. Im not saying we should be full on pacifists but
we should try to touch them and show them that what they are doing is wrong. We could help
them better themselves but instead we choose not too. The U.S. has always been like this they
never take peoples feelings into consideration. The whole world is against them now how would
you feel if everyone you knew started to ignore or dislike you. Why dont we just be that one
person who accepts them as a friend and shows them life can be better.
The U.S. wont do that because were very stubborn. We dont want to look weak to
anyone else so we chose very stupid decisions. This whole situation couldve been avoided with
less tragic consequences. The U.S. just sees itself as superior and it will never bow before
another which is part of our problem we cant show our kind hearts when it comes to war. Killing
is only justified if youre trying to reach peace not to send fear to people because fear is not
peace and many emotions build from fear. For instance resentment can be built off fear youre
making someone really terrified and they wont want to stay like that forever they will try to
change it.
ISIS was just tired of living in fear for so long especially when the who world abandoned
them. Someone who lives in fear does not want to live in fear forever of course they are gonna
put up a fight and overcome it. That fear has made them lose trust in other people and they dont
understand that they dont need to fight anymore. I have a feeling that because we attacked back
when they hit us, they believe that we are gonna try to take over so they keep bombing us. Thats
not the case if they stopped attacking we would too and possibly help them out in any way we

could. ISIS has basically dug themselves in a hole they cant get out from, Im sure they just
want a better future for themselves.
The politics of the U.S. is divided on this subject and our leaders dont really listen to us.
We are very undecided on what to do because we dont really have many options and thats the
problem we have options but each one of them isnt a great one. If this was the beginning of this
whole conflict we had better options but we chose to do nothing and now we got ourselves to this
point. The leaders of the U.S. want to do the opposite of what the people wanted and this is
where we are kind of fighting internally. We of the U.S. dont want to see people be bombed but
the leaders do what they think is best and thats why we end up in these type of situations. Our
leaders do not make the best situations when it comes to war and violence and if you look back
we always get ourselves into some type of fight.
The U.S. has to think of the outcome of their bombing like what would happen if they
just went all out on ISIS. If we took down ISIS right now would everything be better or would a
new terrorist threat appear? The U.S. has to accept their faults because they created ISIS and
armed them so if we took them down we could possibly create another terrorist group. No matter
what we choose to do it is our fault in the end. We need better leadership, our leaders need cooler
heads for our leaders if we want to see peace in this world. We cant just intimidate people when
we are attacked because that says a lot about what we think of them. Obama kind of made it
seem like they werent a big deal and they would be taken care of easily. If we didnt arm them
or even offer our help from the start we could have avoided this whole conflict. We need to be
more wise in the future about lending a helping hand its either we go in and fully aide them or
we dont bother getting involved at all.
