ThroughpoemhuntermygroupandIfoundapoemcalledThereAreBlackwhichwaswrittenby
SantiagoBacafromhistimeinprison.Inthepoemhetalksabouthoweveninprisontherewasstill
segregationandhowtheinmatesweredehumanizedbecausehedescribesthemasantpilesandhow
theyjustmindlesslymarchhedescribeshisfellowinmatesandmindlesswithoutrealpurpose.Hispoetry
wasanescapeforhimandwasawayforhimtoreconnecttowhohewasandexpresseverythinghe
feltwhileinprison.Itgavehimasenseofpurpose.Thisconnectstoauthenticvoicebecausethereason
hispoetrywassopowerfulandmeaningfulisbecausehesharedhispersonalityandexperiences.
