1. For someone working in your field, please describe the fantasies versus realities of the job.
(fantasy vs. reality)
People think labor is easy and there are no problems or pain that come along with it. Think its a fast and
sometimes painful process when in reality it is a long and drawn out process.
2. What is your current educational level? What continuing education and training are required?

She has a two year RN degree and every year with the hospital she needs to have a certain number of units to
continue on as a certified nurse.
3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field.

Day to Day she works with labor in many patients, assists the anesthesiologist with epidurals, and has to see
complications with labor and babies and report to higher ups about issues that could be arriving.
4. How secure are you in your current position? What do you think is the future of your field?

Very secure, people are always having babies all around that need medical assistance.
5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?

Start at $55,000 and then raises with experience and job consistency.
6. What potential for growth is there in your field?

One can always get more qualifications and climb a career ladder definitely can grow into different more political
job statuses.
7. What do you see anesthesiologist perform?
I often see epidurals, and other labor anesthesia, have also seen them do C-sections where the mother stays awake
and also C-sections where the mother goes to sleep.
8. Do you think all the years in medical school and training prepared you efficiently for your job?
Yes I do believe we were well prepared for the job we need to do.
9. How many years did you spend in school?
4 years in order to keep my 4.0 GPA
10. What is one downside and one upside to working in the medical field?
Downside is when babies dont make it, especially when they are full term. People dont realize how often we see
this happen in the hospital at least once a week. Upside is relationship with the patients and the reward when they
have their baby and being there for them in a time of need.
