Classroom Policies

1. Student Behavior/ Expectations: Students are expected

to abide by the county and school expectations, as well as those for
our classroom
o Be Prompt
o Be ready to learn when class begins
o Be Prepared
o Have materials with you and know due dates
o Be a Polite and Positive Participant
o Students are expected to refrain from any behavior that
disrupts their learning or any other students learning.
o Show Respect
o You are expected to treat yourself, your classmates, and
your teacher with respect at all times.

We will flesh out these principles by creating a set of reasonable rules

for you and form me as a class

2. Preparation
o

Materials (Bring Daily):

o Interactive Binder
Students are to have a 3 ring binder (this will be their
textbook so it is very important they do not lose it)
This will hold a table of contents, warm ups, notes
taken, and class work/ homework
o Agenda
A key part to students success is using their agenda.
They are to write down their homework every day
o Writing tools
Pencils, pens, highlighters, etc.
o Personal reading book
Extra Help
o I am available every lunch and most mornings if you need
me to help you with schoolwork. If you choose to come in
the morning please speak with me beforehand so we can
schedule it.

3. Grading: The report card academic grade will be based on tests,

quizzes, homework, and class work
90% of Grades are based on:
Tests
Quizzes
Projects

10% of Grades are based on:

Class work/ daily activities
Homework
Participation

Grading scale: We will follow the county grading scale for this class
A= 90-100 C+= 77- 79D= 60- 66
B+= 87- 89C= 70- 76 F= 59 and below
B= 80- 86 D+= 67- 69
4. Evaluation: You will be evaluated according to the following
criteria
o Participation
o It is important for students to participate in all activities
and learning opportunities. These are the critical bricks
that build the learning.
o Graded Class work/ Homework
o Class work and homework are 10% grades.
o Homework will rarely be assigned and only be assigned if I
think
o Graded Tests/ Performance Assessments
o Students are allowed one chance to redo any quiz they
score below a 70% on. To redo the quiz, they need a
completely filled out and parent signed redo request form
and packet. Students who score above a 70% may still
retake a quiz. They will follow the same steps. Redos are
only available during the specific unit the quiz took place
in.

5. Late Work: Students are encouraged to turn- in every

assignment on time. This gives you a chance to practice material you

have learned in class, and gives both you and I a chance to check for
understanding.
If students fail to do their class work or homework, they are
expected to come to lunch, or in the morning if planned before
hand, and work on the assignment and/ or grade it with me. I
will not accept any work unless they have come to lunch or in the
morning.

6. Extra Credit: I do not believe in giving extra credit because I

believe it does not showcase your true potential. I want to make sure
that you are able to reach and master the learning goals, as opposed
to just getting good grades. With that being said I do allow retakes on
quizzes. See below for my retake policy.
Students are allowed to retake any quiz assessments if they are
not happy with their grade. Prior to taking the redo, students
must see me for a redo form. The redo form must be filled out,
signed by the student and parent, and returned to the teacher
the prior to retaking the assessment.

7. Absences
Students are responsible for all assignments that were given or
collected while absent. Students will have every opportunity to make
up missed assignments. There are absent folders on my wall. They
must check for work in the folder of the day(s) they were absent and
ask their classmates any questions regarding missed work before they
come talk to me. Students will have two days for every one day they
were absent to complete their make up work.

8. Contact
Teaching is truly a team effort. Great educational experiences happen
when students, parents, and educators work together. If you have any
questions or comments, big or small, please do not hesitate to email
me. I will respond as soon as possible. Students may also email me
with questions about assignments.

9. Remind 1o1
I have set up Remind 101 text messaging service that allows me to
send you a text with important information, deadlines, and reminders.
This is a national program that only allows me to send a group text and
does not allow for return text messages. All members of the family are
encouraged to sign up to receive any text messages I may send.
