Technology is changing rapidly and is revolutionizing present-days access to the latest news
stories. This article recognizes how critics believe there has a been a media shift throughout
the years. People are evolving from the traditional ways of the newspaper into the digital age. It
was believed at first that newspapers have a tradition of exposing stories of historic proportion,
but it is slowly losing ground by the digital age. The article reviews a social media research,
which resulted in 71 percent declaring that they favored their news from TV and 33 percent
favored newspapers. It claims that the rise of social media is not the downfall of American
journalism, but helps give the people a voice of their own about current events. Despite the
controversies whether or not the digital news is accurate or inaccurate, the number of social
media journalists are on the rise and it is creating communities of people with rich opinions and

ideas who share the stories with the rest of the world. This article would be useful for research
because it gives a better understanding of the revolution of media shift in journalism.

Beck, Bill. "City Sees Evolution From Print To Broadcast To Digital." Indianapolis Business
Journal 36.42 (2015): 114. Regional Business News. Web. 16 Feb. 2016.
The article explains how the city of Indianapolis had its own fair share of journalism ever since
the nineteenth century. It states how population in the city grew as the years progressed. This
lead to the creation of efficient delivery of daily newspapers. The development of the middleclass in the twentieth century later established a necessity of the morning newspaper. At this day
in age, multiple daily newspaper publishers became populous throughout the city and began
uncovering new stories of political control. This benefited the expansion of journalism and later
developed into the rise of radio broadcasting. The radio became a popular use for sports events in
the beginnings of the 1920s. This article later transitioned into how the radio evolved into the use
of television broadcasting in the 1950s. The revolution of digital cable continues to be prominent
in the 21st century. The later emergence of social media now gives people immediate distribution
of current events around the world. This article is beneficial because it revealed how one city
started out with a high demand for newspapers to instantly obtaining news stories from our
advanced technology.

Mitchell, Amy. "State of the News Media 2015." Pew Research Centers Journalism Project RSS.
The Pew Research Center, 28 Apr. 2015. Web. 17 Feb. 2016.

This article presents the new dynamic way of receiving todays current events through the recent
popularity use of social media. After a 2014 research, nearly half of adults who use the Internet
on a daily basis learn about the news and politics from the past week through Facebook. It
describes how the news industry is expanding and diversifying as the years pass. Network
television witnessed an audience growth, but Cable news was down by eight percent on
viewership. Tech companies today receive majority of the financial benefit unlike most news
organizations. There has been a clash between whether to stay the classic journalistic ways or
evolve into the digital age. The article references to the non-digital company, The News
Republic, which was bought by the co-founder of Facebook. The co-founder, Chris Hughes, had
a goal of evolving this company into todays digital age. As a result, a mass amount of
employees filed their leave from the company. Several others continued the traditional ways of
journalism. This article proves how different people view on the change of the digital age of
journalism.
