DEVELOPMENT
My contributions pertaining to the original development of the campaign relate to the
creation of the name, the website and narrative content, and topic focus. I like being
creative so I had come up with the campaign name when asked to brainstorm
hashtags and names. My proposed name was #UnmaskMentalHealth, which I tried to
fight for as the title, but we ended up going with another name, #BehindTheFaceUC,
which I also like. I also created and contributed my personal story of how a mental
illness tore my best friend and I apart. This story was a hard one to tell but sharing
feelings and being honest about the reality of mental health was our focus, so I was
comfortable with sharing. This narrative was added to the website as well as shared on
social media. Another part of the website I helped develop was the local resources
page where my group found many places locally that help with mental health
ailments. My final role I played in development was the Literature Review that I had
composed regarding mental health stigma in the media. Since this topic was my
expertise after researching it, I focused on that idea in the things I shared and put on
social media.

ENACTMENT
From the beginning I put forth a strong effort to be present on social media in order to
start up the campaign. I was the most present on Facebook because it is my main form
of social media that I choose to use and also I felt that the audience I have on
Facebook would be most receptive to the content I was sharing. In total I shared over 5
different posts regarding the campaign. I got a total of over 50 likes on my posts with
23 likes and a share on a single post of a mental health article. I would consider my
Facebook activism to be successful.
For our physical campaigning, I volunteered for over an hour at the booth at the Stress
Less Fest. I was the main person approaching students to learn about our campaign
and talked to over 20 students. I also made a very neat #BehindTheFaceUC mug at
the event!

PROMOTION
For promotion of the campaign, outside of the actual facilitation of the campaign
online, I told the kids in my business program about it as well as messaged different

group messages that they should check out our campaign. I also told my family and
got many of my relatives to go onto their Facebook pages and like our page and
information.

REPORT
I was the director of the Social Media Methods section of the report. I organized my
team into different sections in order to best complete the assignment, but I was the
main contributor to the section. I divided the section into what and why like Professor
Brayman requested and analyzed how the campaign was conducted on Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr.
