Resources/

2. Students will then be introduced to the Notre Dame Students - Still

seated on the mat
3. ND students (Ebony) will introduce their activities to students and
give a brief explanation of the activities to students and model what
they have to do on an iPad so they can see exactly what they are
supposed to do

Story Creator Example

to show and model to
students

Today we will be segmenting words

Using the iPads we will create a story using the app Story
Creator
When you get your iPads I would like you to unlock them and
click the Story Creator app that will located on the bar at the
bottom of the iPad
After you have opened the app you will click on the (+) sign at
the bottom of the page. This will let you create a new book
Then you will take a picture of you and your partner to put on
the cover, this way you know what book is your
After that you will begin making your book
In the middle of the desk their will be different parts of
different words. Together you must segment the letters
together to make a full word
Once you have made a word, write it down on the book using
the crayon icon
After you've written down the word, you and your partner can
record yourself saying the word and it will automatically add it
to your book
You do not have to worry about saving your work as it will do
it automatically
Not all students will be able to have a go at the same time so
some of you will be doing other activities while you wait
If you cant remember the instructions don't worry I will keep
reminding you as we go and if you have any trouble just sit
nicely with you hand in the air for me to come and help you
4. Do a quick demonstration of how it should turn out by making one
with your own word and show them an example you prepared
before class
5. Once you have finished showing students the examples group
them in pairs (Preferably 2-3 pairs at a desk)
6. Select students you wish to go on iPads first (Would be a good
idea to have students you think will be a bit slower at doing the
activity first allowing them more time)

9.10am

7. Then instruct the remaining students to choose from an activity that

has been set up prior to lesson - These activities will be based on
segmenting words to prepare the remaining students for the book
making activity
