Studies of testicular cancer have shown the benefits of
early detection.9 However, studies to date indicate that there is insufficient evidence to screen routinely for testicular cancer in asymptomatic patients considering also that it is uncommon (r:26 5 men). It is recommended for those at high risk. This screening includes colour Doppler ultrasound and tumour markers. Evidence also indicates that, to date, there is little evidence to show that those performing testicular self-examination are more likely to detect early stage tumours or have better survival than those who do not
