The Great Gatsby Project

This project is a chance for you to use your creativity while responding
analytically to The Great Gatsby. You should choose one of the projects below. You
may either work by yourself, or in a group (2-3 people).

Options
1. Dramatize a key scene (Group Project)
You will need to include: A script A video of the dramatized scene One page
write up (per person) explaining the significance of the scene you chose, and
how you chose to display the themes and characterizations.
2. Write a description of Gatsbys mansion and lifestyle for a magazine
(Individual project).
You will need to include: An aesthetically pleasing magazine spread (around 2-3
pages with pictures, and other design elements) Bibliography (2-4 sources)
Consider using: Google Drawings or Joomag
3. Write a front page in a newspaper focused around an important
scene in the book (make sure to include statements from characters!).
(Individual project)
You will need to include: Aesthetically pleasing front page of the newspaper
(including photos and other design elements). Main story about a scene from
the book Short article on a historical event, 1920s culture, or a letter to the
editor

4. Compile a art gallery with art pieces (6-10 pieces) that demonstrate
the themes and/or plot points of The Great Gatsby. (Group project or
Individual Project)
You will need to include : Art pieces from the time period At least one original
work from each member A paragraph per art piece explaining how it relates to
The Great Gatsby

5. Create a news broadcast that could play on a modern news station to
celebrate the anniversary of The Great Gatsbys publication. It should
address why The Great Gatsby is still relevant today. (Group project)
You will need to include: A script A video of the news broadcast One page
write up (per person) explaining which parts of The Great Gatsby you used in
your broadcast, as well as how your broadcast relates to the themes in The
Great Gatsby.

6. Create a radio broadcast that could have been listened to by the


characters in The Great Gatsby in the 1920s. It should include music and
information relevant to the themes in the book. (group or individual project)

You will need to include: A script A recording of the radio show One page
write up (per person) explaining which parts of The Great Gatsby you used in
your broadcast, as well as how your broadcast relates to the themes in The
Great Gatsby.

7. Write a series of poems that convey themes of The Great Gatsby (6-9
poems) (individual project).
You will need to include: 5-8 poems of any format (traditional styles, spoken
word, visual poems) One blackout poem using a photocopied page of The
Great Gatsby One paragraph per poem explaining how it relates to The Great
Gatsby.
