Lesson Title: Linocuts (Printmaking)


1. Learning Target(s)/Objectives (1C)
List the lesson learning target(s)/objective(s) [connect each target/objective to the appropriate state curriculum/content area
standards.
Students will be able to design and image to transfer an image onto linoleum.
Students will be able to use gouges to cut out the chosen image.
Students will be able to correctly apply ink to their linocut and print the image onto paper.
Anchor Standard #1: Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work.
Anchor Standard #2: Organize and develop artistic ideas and work.
2. Pre-assessment (1F)
Describe the pre-assessment(s) used to establish students baseline knowledge and skills for this lesson.
The pre-assessment would include a PowerPoint to introduce the subject, as well as test students prior knowledge.
The teacher will perform a demo for the students to show them techniques, as well as proper use of the tools.
A second demo will be done to show the students the proper way to ink and print their linocut.

Describe and include the formative assessment(s) to be used to measure student progress during this lesson.
Formative assessment is done during critique.
Students will present their printed images during critique.
The teacher will grade based on the work presented, and the quality of the print.

The teacher will introduce the topic with a PowerPoint and Demo.
The students will design an image to transfer onto the Linoleum.
The students will use gouges to carve out their chosen images.
The students will use ink and ink rollers to ink their linocut and print the image onto paper.
The students will participate in a critique.
6. Watch For------Identify anything that you would like specifically observed during this lesson.
Students use of the tools, time spent during class working diligently on their project, properly applying ink to the linocut,
and properly printing their image onto paper.
