Beverly Gonzales

2012 E. Hatchway St.

Compton, CA, 90222
Dear Hiring Manager,
My name is Beverly Gonzales and I am interested in obtaining a teaching position in a
Dual Language or general education classroom. My academic achievements and teaching
experience demonstrate that I am a goal oriented person and have a passion for education.
I have just completed my Masters of Arts in Bilingual Education and have a Multiple
Subject Teaching Credential with BCLAD certification. During my student teaching experience,
I developed and delivered assessments to students in kindergarten and 4th grade classrooms and
formed future instruction based on the assessment results. In addition, I modified instruction for
second language learners by adding visual aids, gestures, and sentence starters. I also developed
an intervention plan and instructed students in small groups.
Through my 800 hour internship with the AmeriCorpss Jumpstart for Young Children
Program, I was able to teach low income preschool children in Compton how to read, write, and
the importance of education. I learned to talk to parents about their childrens progress, interacted
with children in a way that enhanced their vocabulary and comprehension skills, and developed
their interpersonal relationships between/with children. In addition to being a part of Jumpstart, I
also tutored a fourth grader and a tenth grader in English and math respectively using CA
standards for 40 sessions. While tutoring, I made it a priority to prepare extensively before any
tutoring session. As the Assistant Director at Sylvan Learning Center, I communicated student
progress with parents and maintained open communication regarding students needs.
Furthermore, I served as a tutor for children between kindergarten to twelfth grade. Besides
being patient, I have the ability to explain difficult concepts in a simple manner, and I am able to
find different ways to teach a subject so that I can address the various types of learning styles of
the pupils.
My past experience with teaching students of all ages, knowledge of implementing the
California Teaching Standards in a successful manner, and ability to communicate with parents
and faculty in Spanish and English, have prepared me to excel in a position as a Dual Immersion
and general education teacher. I am confident that as a teacher in your school system, I can create
a positive learning environment that is student-led. I am enclosing my resume and would
welcome the opportunity to interview for this position. Feel free to contact me at 310-701-6153
or beverlybusiness@gmail.com. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,

Beverly Gonzales
