Guard 1
I. 2-3 Zone Defensive positions
I. In the same picture Guards 1&2 are responsible for protecting the gap between them
and the top of the three line

(1) Forward 1 is in charge of the whole backside of the court. Ensuring that
no offensive player gets an open look on their side

I. When the ball is at the top of the key the forward will be positioned at 3 or 4 in the
picture to the right

I. Guard two will be in charge of defending this wing when the ball is in this area.

I. Position 5 in the center will be in charge of defensing the middle.

I. Forward 1 in position 3 is in charge of defending the diagonal pass from the wing

1. When defending the wing, the opposite guard (in this case 1) is in charge of
defending the middle
Forward 2 playing position 4 will be helping guard 2 on the dribble. While anticipating the pass
to the corner so that forward 2 can defend it.
I. Forward 2
Forward 2
I. Forward 2 is in charge of defending the corner shot and not allowing a pass out of the
corner.
Guard 1
I. Guard one is in charge of defending the upper part of the key
Guard 2 is helping forward 2 keeping the ball in the corner, while defending the wing still.
I. Guard 2
Center
I. The center will be in charge of defending the position of forward 2 while forward 2 is
defending the corner.
