MECHANICAL ENGINEERING PROJECTS

Design of custom actuators and sensors for use in a Linear Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) control system
My research work involves sizing and building a thin beam fitted with custom heated
actuators to be implemented in a state space model that utilizes a LQG controller to control the tip
position given an initial displacement. Sensors used are Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDS),
Hall Sensors, and Accelerometers. The project is in its second iteration and uses a low cost Field Point
Gate Array (FPGA) and is programmed in NI LabView.
