Dear Big Bear High Counseling Team,
I am excited to hear about your current opening for the position of School Counselor at Big Bear
High School and the opportunity to join a comprehensive school counseling team. As a school
counselor, I am trained to address the developmental needs of every student while also improving
the academic, career and personal/social development of all students. I, too, share in your mission
and belief that our students should be provided with an exceptional learning environment where
life-long learning is encouraged and students are both valued and respected.
As part of my 700 hours as a school counseling trainee in both the middle and high school level, I
have led multiple small groups focused on study skills and academic success for 8th and 9th grade
students; provided multiple classroom guidance lessons focused on college and career readiness,
graduation requirements, and four-year planning; and delivered tardy and organizational
interventions to identified students. In addition, I have engaged in numerous weekly, individual
counseling sessions with middle and high school students. I have participated in ongoing
counseling meetings at the school and district-level. I have also had the opportunity to participate
in administrative meetings focused on evaluating CTE course offerings which has increased my
knowledge regarding CTE pathways. I am eager to learn more about the CTE courses that BBHS
provides for students. Lastly, I am experienced in consulting and collaborating with
administrators, teachers, and parents for the purpose of supporting student needs and believe
strongly in the power of effective communication.
In terms of leadership, I have served as a Research Assistant for the past two years at SDSU. This
opportunity has allowed me to travel across the country interviewing administrators, school
counselors and students from diverse backgrounds about their experiences related to college and
career readiness. From this experience and my time as a trainee, I am qualified to help support
school-wide efforts to increase the percentage of students who graduate having completed
CSU/UC course requirements.
I look forward to applying these skills to best serve the students of Big Bear High School and hope
to expand my knowledge as a member of the schools counseling team
I am enclosing my resume and look forward to meeting with you to further discuss this opportunity.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Kristy Eagle
