To help integrate technology into my curriculum, I want to write a grant for

Polar H7 heart rate monitors (HRM) and an iPad. I really enjoy this heart rate
monitor because it uses Bluetooth to sync up to many different apps and
devices, instead of only being able to sync up to a specific watch. The Polar
H7 takes the watch out of the equation, and I can use the iPad to link up to
the heart rate monitors and project everyones heart rate on the wall so they
can see where they are at throughout the class period. Each monitor can be
given a distinct code, and students will be given these codes. This helps keep
each students heart rate private.
1. http://www.mapmyfitness.com/app/
a. Using the mapmyfitness app, I could hold students responsible
for recording their workouts, duration, and determine calories
burned during a workout. I could tie this in to a nutrition lesson
and have students determine how many (certain exercise) they
would have to perform to burn off that 300 calories chocolate
chip cookies. This can be downloaded on students smart
phones, or we can go to a computer lab and input the data on
the site.
b. K.2.AN.1 Analyze and evaluate the effects of physical activity
and nutrition on the body.
2. https://www.myfitnesspal.com/
a. Using the myfitnesspal app, I could do a nutrition lesson to show
students the effects of certain food. Students would learn what
foods contain certain nutrients, and use the app to set caloric
goals for the future.
b. K.2.AN.1 Analyze and evaluate the effects of physical activity
and nutrition on the body.
3. http://diwithtechnology.wikispaces.com/file/view/Google_Earth_Across_t
he_Curriculum.pdf
a. Using Google Earth, I could show students distances and
challenge them to walk those distances. For instance, I could
challenge students to walk the height of Mount Everest or the
distance between their home and their favorite store. As the

article listed above, I could also take them on a virtual tour of

Mount Everest to inspire them to continue in life-long physical
activity. This could be used as a nice anticipatory set to start a
lesson out.
b. B.6.RP.2 Choose to exercise regularly outside of physical
education for personal enjoyment and benefit in dynamic
settings.
4. https://blastmotion.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/article-san-diegounion-tribune-sensors-track-hang-time-vertical.pdf
a. I could use Blast motion to measure and assess a students
vertical jump. I could individually show the students the
breakdown of their jump and the height they reached. I think
students would be much more motivated to increase their
vertical jump if they used an app like this. I believe they would
be much more involved in the process of the vertical jump as
well.
b. A.4.HR.3 Meet the criterion-referenced muscular strength and
endurance health-related fitness standards for age and gender
(e.g., Curl-up, Push-up, Pull-up, Modified Pull-up, Flexed Arm
Hang).
5. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iron-kids/id552037626?mt=8&ignmpt=uo%3D4
a. Eventually, I would like to buy multiple iPads for my classroom
using grants. I could incorporate the Iron Fist app buy making
stations with the iPads. The students could go around and click
on a certain exercise to do at the station. The Iron Fist app would
help explain how they can do the exercise and how those
exercises benefit them.
b. National Standard 1 - The physically literate individual
demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and
movement patterns.
6. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/super-stretch-yoga-hd/id456108738?
mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4

a. Going back to my previous post, once I get enough iPads

throughout the classroom I can display Super Stretch Yoga HD at
each stations This would be beneficial for students with cognitive
impairments and even students at different ability levels. I can
have different stations set up for different difficulty levels and
age levels. I could assign students to a station to meet their
physical and mental needs. I could also adapt this if I had a class
full of students with disabilities to teach them about controlling
their bodies.
b. National Standard 1 - The physically literate individual
demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and
movement patterns.
7. https://www.coachseye.com/
a. I would use coachs eye for skill assessment. For instance, I could
video tape a student performing the in-step kick in soccer. I could
then slow the video down and easily assess if the student
performs each component of the skill. I could also show the
student what they are doing incorrectly in slow motion and then
compare that to someone who performed the skill correctly.
b. National Standard 1 - The physically literate individual
demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and
movement patterns.
c. M.1.MS.4 Apply all elements of the mature form of the
manipulative skills of catch, kick, foot dribble, and strike with
hand and implements in dynamic settings.
8. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/teachers-assistantclassroom/id399265769?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4
a. I could use Teacher Assistant to keep track of a students
affective domain (ex. Respect). I could walk around with the iPad
and use this app to track student behavior instead of using an
old fashioned clipboard.

b. National Standard 4 - The physically literate individual exhibits

responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and
others.
9. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/music-workout-intervaltimer/id498866442?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4
a. I would use this interval timer to set certain durations for
exercises at stations. Once the music stops, student would know
to clean up the station they are at and rotate to the next station.
This would work on listening skills for the student as well. In
terms of student learning, this could be used in establishing a
routine. This works really well at the elementary level. Once the
music stops, everyone stops. This would also work very well with
students with disabilities (ex. A student with autism). Students
with autism like routines and this would be a nice app to help
establish those routines.
b. B.6.FB.1Apply internal (prior knowledge) and external feedback
to improve motor skills and movement patterns, fitness, and
physical activities in dynamic settings
