triangular element.
10.
What are the assumptions used in thick plate element?
Part B
1. Derive the shape function for the CST element.
2. Derive the stain-displacement for the CST element.
3. Determine the stiffness matrix for the CST element co-ordinates are
1(20, 30), 2(80, 30) and 3(50,120) are given in units of millimeters.
Assume plane stress conditions. Take E = 210 GPa, =0.25 and t = 10
mm.
4. For the plain strain element as shown in figure. The nodal
displacements are: u1 = 0.005 mm; v1 = 0.002 mm; u2 = 0 mm; v2 = 0
mm; u3 = 0.005 mm; v3 = 0 mm. Determine the element stress x, y,
xy, 1 and 2 and the principal angle p. Let E = 70 GPa, and =0.3 and
use the unit thickness for plain strain. All co-ordinates are in
millimeters.
5. Derive the thermal stiffness matrix for two dimensional heat transfer
problems.
6. Calculate the element equations for the element shown in figure which
experiences convection on the die jk and its upper face.
7. Compute the element matrices and vectors for the element shown in
figure when the edges 2-3 and 1-3 experience convection heat loss.
