HowhaveIdevelopedthiscompetencyduringthiscourseorprofessionalseminar/fieldexperience?

My first field experience was a wonderful one. I had the chance to be in a school that really valued the education,

the
happiness and individuality of their students. It was truly heartwarming to be a part of such a great school.
They

promoted prosocial values, open-mindedness and acceptance of others, they went above and beyond to

provide
their children with a positive learning experience every time they stepped in the school. Although I did not

get
to manage a class, as this is my first field experience, the staff was so welcoming and open, that we had

opportunities to get involved in the classroom. We could interact with students and help them to the best of
many

our
abilities, in which case I had the chance to take aside children with learning difficulties and behavioral

problems, and work one-on-one with them. Also, it was essential to me that I respected the confidential nature of
many aspects of my work. Certain measures were taken, such as no names written down and no pictures or

videos taken. I also did not come across any discriminatory behavior with any student, parent or colleague, nor

did I get the opportunity to justify any decision regarding the learning and and education of students to the parties
concerned. However, while I was in a kindergarten classroom, much conflict resolution was needed between the
children. I had to continuously repeat and model appropriate moral behavior whenever a conflict came up, which

could sometimes be physical or verbal violence. I even had to have a discussion with one of the children, as he
tried to bribe me into silence using the fact that his mom donated a lot of the funds to school, when I saw that he

had hit another kid. Lastly, due to my seminar class being thorough in what actions could be considered

appropriate and inappropriate, I had a good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework governing the
teaching profession. All in all, I had the chance to develop this competency thoroughly during my first field

experience.
