Dear Parents and Guardians,

On March 30, a message that threatened health and safety was discovered in a boys
bathroom in Port Byron Central School Districts Lehn Annex.
In accordance with the districts School Emergency Management Plan, an immediate
investigation performed by staff, the districts school resource officer and members of the
New York State Police Department ensued.
I am pleased to report that law enforcement officials determined there is no viable threat to
the Port Byron school community.
Due to student involvement and laws that protect privacy rights, I am unable to provide any
additional information or comment further, but would like to express my sincere gratitude to
village and state police officials, along with the students and staff members who assisted in
the investigation. There is nothing more important than the safety of our students.
The district uses various communication tools to communicate with parents and guardians
throughout the school year. In this particular situation, we sent two emails during the
investigation. The first one, sent March 30, notified parents and guardians about the
incident and ongoing investigation. The second email was an update, sent March 31, to
notify parents and guardians that the threat was determined by law enforcement to not be
credible.
In light of this situation, I encourage you to take a moment and review your contact
information in the SchoolTool parent portal. Please make sure your email address and
telephone numbers are up-to-date, make sure your email filters permit messages from the
district and check your email accounts blocked sender list.
To unblock a sender from Yahoo mail, log in to your Yahoo account, click the gear icon
and choose "Mail Options" from the menu. Click "Blocked Addresses" in the navigation pane
at the left, under "Advanced Options." Select the email address of the contact that you wish

the Blocked Addresses list. The contact is unblocked immediately.
