How He Became Achilles
Achilles became Achilles just after he was born when
his mother Thetis wanted him be to be immortal like
a God. So desperate to do so she took Achilles a short
time after he was born to the river Styx. When she got
there she held Achilles by his heel and dipped him
into the magical river making him invincible , but the
only problem was that she did not dip in his heel
therefore it became his most vulnerable and greatest
weakness.
Achilles Importance
Achilles was known for many major things but the most
important of all was his role in the Trojan War. He was
recruited by Agamemnon to help get Helen of Troy back to
his brother Menelaus. Irritated by Agamemnon Achilles sat
out of the fighting until his cousin Patroclus was killed when
acting like Achilles by dressing in his armor, out of rage
Achilles eventually fights Hector and kills him and then to
dishonor his body ties it to the back of a chariot and drags it
around. A few days later Odysseus came up with the idea of
the trojan horse which could hold about 30 men to sneek
into the city and surprise attack the trojans. After this was
accomplished huge numbers of trojans were slain but so was
Achilles who had been shot in the heel in which his mother
held him by as a child by Hector’s brother Paris.
