Overview

• Calypso is a water nymph also known as


the queenly nymph, who lives on the
island Ogygia.(Homer)(Stewart)
• Her name means Hidden or Hider. (Greek
Goddesses)
Overview continued…

 In the Odyssey Calypso imprisoned Odysseus for


7 years.(Homer)
 In the book Percy Jackson and the Olympians:
The Battle of the Labyrinth she meets a wounded
Percy Jackson but she is the prisoner. (Riordan)
 In both books Calypso falls in love with the main
character. But in Percy Jackson and the
Olympians: The Battle of the Labyrinth she lets
him chose to leave.
In the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead
Mans Chest Calypso is a sea goddess who fell in
love with a sailor named Davy Jones. She trusted
him with the duty of ferrying dead souls to the
afterlife. If he did this for a decade he could be
with her for one day but because of her nature
Calypso was not there to meet him when he
rejoined the living.
