Paying tribute to the soldiers that made all men free by
putting up a memorial arch in honor of the soldier and
Washington himself.
I went onto the LOC home page in order to search for Battle
of Yorktown I read the first article that came up. My
sentence I took from this article is: The battle of Yorktown
marked the independence of the United States.
Through the photographs you can see the constant struggle
that people had to go through during the war. For the more
fortunate people you can see the luxurious lives they live
through it all. There were a lot more photographs of the
struggles then the extravagancies.

Reflection 5 points
Complete reflection (sincere, personal), making connections to text, self, world, future.
1. What is the most valuable take-away you have gained by learning about the resources
at the Library of Congress?
The most valuable take-away for me when doing this project was realizing how many
resources there are out there for teachers when teaching these subjects that tend to be

boring. Using some of the things offered by the Library of Congress as a teacher you
can spice up any activity you have with your students and make it very interactive. Great
website to keep in mind as a teacher.
2. What is the value of studying history using primary source documents?
The value of studying history using primary source documents is that it becomes more
real because the sources are true facts and come from that event. These sources make the
history your learning about more realistic and the information you gather through the
sources is more reliable.
