Next as students walk around the sun the will also slowly and carefully spin
like the motion of a spinning top. Ask students to begin to revolve around the
sun again How can this motion be described? This is called a revolution.
A rotation
causes__________?
Using only two students this time present the class with another
demonstration. With the sun in the centre as before, a student will represent
the Earth (using a large toy or ball). Place a large label on the Earth to
identify Australia. As the student rotates around the sun have them stop when

Using Wordle, each student will contribute to a class brainstorm about what
they already know about day, night and the four seasons. The teacher will use
the prompt questions in order to help guide the students responses.
Continue this activity now using revolution; stopping as Australia moves into
the four different positions to demonstrate the way seasons are formed.
When it is tilted directly toward the sun it is summer, as it begins to face
away from the sun it becomes Autumn. When it is tilted away it is winter,
