VOTING PROCEDURES FOR ELECTION OF UIPE PRESIDENT 2016/2018


The following procedures are prepared to guide the voting exercise for President of
UIPE.
1.
Commencement
The voting will commence on 1st April 2016 at the Secretariat where ballot papers will
be availed to members eligible to vote. A ballot box will be availed to the Secretariat to
facilitate physical voting. This ballot box will be sealed by the Returning Officer and will
be opened in the presence of the scrutinizers only on April 29th 2016 the day voting
closes.
Voters may cast their ballots in the ballot box anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at
the Secretariat and on the 29th April 2016 voting will commence at 2.00 p.m. and close
at 5.00 p.m. to enable the counting of votes and the announcement of the winner at
the AGM.

Eligible Voters
The following categories of members will be eligible to vote if they are fully paid up
members.
Corporate members (Members and Fellows)
Technologist members
Technician members
Graduate members

Method of voting
The ballots have got three names for the candidates nominated by Council for the
position of President of UIPE. The voter should tick against the candidate of his/her
choice for the position of President of UIPE.

The voter has to indicate his or her name, and his or her UIPE number. Without a name
and a UIPE number the vote will not be counted. The voter must also append his or her
signature.

Counting of votes
Votes will be counted on the 29th April 2016 and the results of the vote will be
announced during the AGM by the Returning Officer.
The Retuning Officer will ensure that all materials of the voting exercise are well
arranged and safely stored for future reference and a written report of the election
process shall be prepared and handed over to the Honorary Secretary.
The election process will be declared complete and successful after announcing the
winner.
