Objectives:
Content/Language Objectives: Given a graphic organizer and news article, students will
be able to write and answer 6 clarifying questions to develop and show understanding of
the main idea of a current event.

Evaluation: How will you assess what students have learned from your lesson?
Check content of graphic organizers, comprehension of text based on questions and
answers and clarity in the QWS.
Accommodations: Scaffold; encourage students to help one another, monitor and adjust
during groupwork, Ms. Angela will work with Marcos group; Ms. Emily will work with
Melyssas group.
Extensions: Encourage students to think beyond text, make inferences and predictions,
and ask follow-up questions.
Second Language Strategy: Use of visuals, guidance with language, preview of topic,
language objectives, previous knowledge, peer discussion, etc. These should have been
described and highlighted in the Procedure. Just label them here.
Graphic Organizer hands on tool for visual learners and those who need extra help in
