Breaking News Analysis
Section One: Recently, in the past month, two armed Palestinian men attempted to board
a public bus in the city of Beit Shemesh, Israel. Upon entering, the people on the bus forced them
out. The men proceeded to stab an Israeli man by the bus stop. The men were shot down and
wounded by the police. The attackers and the Israeli men were sent to a hospital where one of the
Palestinians died. This attack is the most recent in the fight between radical Palestinians and
Israelis. U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, talked with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin
Netanyahu, on the day of the attack. The two discussed the problems occurring between Israelis
and Palestinians. U.N Secretary-General, Ban Ki-mon, met with the Authority President of
Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, and Netanyahu about the issues. He pleaded with both of them and
warned them about the possible upcoming war between both sides.
Section Two: The problems occurring between Palestine and Israel are an issue we have
discussed in class before. We have discussed how the two sides have fought against each even
though they live in one country together. The class has discussed how we think these issues
should be fixed and this event makes it even more evident. Also, you once told us that
Palestinians will do a small act of terror like this and then Israel will often hit them even worse.
The stabbing of one Israeli man could lead to the destruction of an entire Palestinian block, and
the mass murder of hundreds of Palestinian civilians who have not done a thing. This attack

could be, as stated in Section One, the cause of a war between the two states. We also know that
other Islamic countries will side with Palestine, so this could possibly become another war
between Israel and the Islamic Middle East. Since we are fully aware of the weaponry that Israel
has in its arsenal, this war could become that of nuclear proportions. Unless these tensions are
eased, the Middle East could be getting ready for a war.
Section Three: I believe that these acts of terror are wrong. Violence does not solve
issues in any way it only leads to more down the road. These attacks are only fueling the flame
between Israel and Palestine. If more of these events occur then the country could be thrown into
war which will lead to the deaths of hundreds or maybe thousands of people. I disagree with the
way the Palestinian men reacted to their situation. Instead of just walking away they decided to
do the wrong thing, they decided to stab a man. Even though I am a passionate Call of Duty
player, I hate real violence in the real world and I think it only makes this world worse. These
attacks are going to have to stop to keep that area safer.
