Be Dazzled: Kaleidoscope

1. Create your own circle design for the


kaleidoscope.
2. Which kaleidoscope worked best? Why do you
think so?

Why?
Light travels in a straight line through empty
space, but when it bumps into an object, it changes
direction. Some surfaces, such as the paper or the
tin foil, send or reflect the light back to you. (Think
of a bouncing ball off a wall). The sides of the tin
foil inside the kaleidoscope reflect the paper
design. The reflection bounces back and fourth
from side to side creating multiple images. When
you turn the paper, you see a different design.
