Comprehensions
The Smith family went on holiday. They went to
Scotland. It rained and it was a bit cold, but they had a
great time. They took a boat tour and they saw some
seals, dolphins and whales. They stayed in small
hotels called bed and breakfasts or b&b for short.
They visited Glasgow and spent a day shopping. They
also went to the Kelvingrove museum and art gallery.
Their holiday was for one week.

Richard woke up and looked at the clock. It

showed 7.30 and so he got up. He knocked on
his sister Maries door. Get up, Marie, he
said quietly. Marie heard him and she crept
quietly out of bed. Both of them went
downstairs in their pyjamas. They went into
the kitchen. Dad was already there. He gave
orders. He told them what to do. Marie took an
egg out of the fridge and fried it. Richard
sliced some bread and toasted it. Dad put a
plate on a tray. He also put a small vase with a
rose in it on the tray. Richard buttered the toast
and Marie placed the fried egg on top. Then
Dad made a pot of tea and placed it on the
tray. Richard carried the tray upstairs and Dad
and Marie followed him. They knocked on the
parents bedroom door and Mum shouted,
Come in! They opened the door and went in.
Happy birthday! they all shouted. Breakfast
in bed for you today, Mum.
