Directors Desk
I hope everyone had a relaxing Spring Break, and came back ready to tackle the next 7 weeks! Here is a quick
rundown of what the month of March held for us:

This fall we will be welcoming Haley Humes from Western Illinois as our School Psychology Intern. I
would like to extend a huge thank you to Katie Neubauer, and everyone who helped to support this
new program!! More details will come as we align more of the specifics of how this service will work.

We are continuing to iron out the Medicaid billing process. Heather has done a wonderful job tackling
a lot of the logistics of this program. In the next few weeks, we will be communicating the details of
the parental consent and communication that is needed. Thank you to everyone for your patience,
and please let me know if you have questions!

ACES will continue to take care of advertising for the SLP & SLP-A for districts who use the Speech
Implementer Model.

We have begun to plan for next years services, so if you anticipate any changes in your district,
please let me know!
Be sure to get out enjoy the nice weather when you can, Tamara

Special Ed Finance Reminder

The FY 16 Part B budget application may be amended through April 30, 2016. Districts should
ensure the budget application reflects all planned expenditures in the appropriate function
codes for the remainder of the year. Any budget revision requests after this date require prior
approval from the Special Education Finance Section.
If the district has already created and/or submitted a payment request for April, creating a
budget revision will cancel the payment request. Once the budget revision has been
approved, the district can resubmit the payment request for the April payment.
Also, please make sure the entire current year proportionate share amount is budgeted under
function code 1224. The prior year proportionate share CARRYOVER amount must also be
budgeted under function code 1224 unless the district received approval from the Special
Education Finance Section to release these carryover funds. If approval was obtained,
released proportionate share carryover funds must be budgeted under any function code
other than 1224.
More information and step-by-step directions on completing a budget application revision can
be found in the ePeGs Budget Application Training Guide located at
http://dese.mo.gov/sites/default/files/sef-FY16BudgetGuide.pdf. Questions may be directed by
email to spedfunding@dese.mo.gov or by calling 573-751-0622.
