Force and Motion Lesson Reflection
While I was observing my teacher instruct for science she taught a lesson on force and motion.
Whenever she starts the science block for the day, she always has students complete a do-now
sheet that has a few questions for students to answer before they begin the lesson. Then, she does
a review of what they have been learning which happened to be motion graphs. She puts certain
examples of motion graphs on the smart board and also draws examples and asks the students to
explain what the graphs tell. A graph with a straight horizontal line shows there is no motion
happening at that time. A line that has a steady slope shows constant speed. A graph with a
curved line shows acceleration because it starts out slow and slowly rises. The last type of graph
is one that starts up and comes to the axis. This graphs means the object is returning home.
The next part of the lesson was going over 10 review questions for their text that was
coming up. She let student work independently or with a partner for ten minutes to solve some of
them and then she brought the class back together and they went over them to check their
answers. After that, she gave out a review worksheet for students to work on to keep practicing
force and motion problems. I worked with a few students to help them complete it. I enjoyed
getting to interact with the students and observe their learning habits and how much they knew
about force and motion. After students finished the worksheet, the class came back together and
the teacher went over the problems so students could check their answers. If students had any
questions they could ask them at this time. After all questions were answered, students had to
complete an exit ticket. This is a problem that is like what they just spent the class period

working on. The teacher uses this to gauge students understanding and decide what to teach next
and if students are ready to move on to the next objective.
Students were engaged and paying attention while teacher was explaining the topic and
review questions. I think students were prepared and did well on the assignments. The teacher
can move on and teach the next objective I would say. I enjoyed working in a small group with
the students and getting to see where they were. I look forward to teaching my own lesson to the
students and seeing how well they understand.
