SECTION I: STUDENT INFORMATION

A.C. Flora High School is a suburban school located in the Forest Acres community of
Columbia, South Carolina and is one of eight high schools in the Richland One school district.
A.C. Flora High School has 80 teachers and 1,253 students, of which 29% are freshmen, 27% are
sophomores, 23% are juniors, and 21% are seniors (see page five for graphical representation).
Furthermore, the student population consists of an even gender distribution with 50% females
and 50% males (see page seven for graphical representation). The racial distribution includes
52% of white non- Hispanic students, 38% black or African American, 4% two or more races,
4% white Hispanic, and 2% Asian (see page six for graphical representation).
All students (100%) in the Richland One School District have the option to receive free
lunch for the 2015-2016 academic school year as a result of a grant given to the district.
A.C. Flora offers both Advanced Placement (AP) classes as well as an International
Baccalaureate (IB) program. The college readiness index is 35.3, with a mathematics proficiency
of 2.7, an English proficiency of 3.0, and a student-teacher ratio of 16:1.

AP World History 4A:


This AP World History class meets during 4th block (1:41-3:15) on A-days. There are
twenty-seven students in this class, all of whom are sophomores. The demographics of those
students are illustrated by the graphs located on pages nine and ten. The gender distribution of
these students is 63% male and 37% female. 4A is the only AP World History class in which
there are more males than females. Racially, the students are 88% white, non-Hispanics. The
next biggest racial group is black or African American with 8% of students, followed by 1% of
students that are both white and black or African American.
The academic indicators used in this section include the students average grade point
average (GPA), as well as the average percentile on their Measures of Academic Progress (MAP)
test, and their average score on the South Carolina Palmetto Assessment of State Standards

AP World History 4As assessment data is represented in graph form at the bottom of this
page. Academically, these students are above average and well representative of an AP class with
an average GPA of 3.35. On their latest MAP test, the students scored on average in the 79th
percentile for reading and on average in the 76th percentile in math. Finally, on their 2014 PASSsocial studies examination, the students scored in the exemplary category (675-900) with an
average score of 717.
Two students have 504 Plans. The first 504 Plan allows the student to carry an Epi-pen
and Benadryl in the students backpack at all times. The second 504 Plan allows the student to
have extra time on tests and assignments, if needed. There are no Individual Education Programs
(IEP).

This AP World History class meets during 3rd block (11:56-1:35) on B-days. There are
thirty-three students in this class, all of whom are sophomores. The demographics of those
students are illustrated by the graphs on pages twelve and thirteen. The gender distribution of
these students is almost even with 55% female and 45% male. Racially, they are mostly white,
non-Hispanics (88%). The next biggest racial group (8%) is black or African American, followed
by 1% of students that are both white and black or African American.
The academic indicators used in this section include the students average grade point
average (GPA), their average percentile on the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test, and
their average score on the South Carolina Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (PASS) social

examination, the students scored in the exemplary category (675-900) with an average score of
747.

This AP World History class meets during 4thblock (1:41-3:15) on A-days. There are
fifteen students in this class, all of whom are sophomores. The demographics of those students
are illustrated through graphical representation on pages fifteen and sixteen. The gender
distribution is almost even with 53% female students and 47% male students. Racially, they are
majority, 60%, white, non-Hispanics. The next biggest racial group, 27% of students, is black or
African American, followed by 1% of students that are white Hispanic, and 1% of students that
are Asian.

average (GPA), their average percentile on the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test, and

IB Design Technology HL 1:
This IB design technology class meets during B Block (9:09-10:12) on Mondays and
Wednesdays, and during B/C block (9:09-11:20) on Thursdays. There are twenty students in this
class, all of whom are juniors. The demographics of the students are illustrated by the graphs on
pages eighteen and nineteen. The gender distribution is exactly even with 50% female students
and 50% male students. Racially, they are majority (75%) white, non-Hispanics. The other 25%
of students are black or African American.
The academic indicators used in this section include the students average grade point
average (GPA), their average percentile on the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test, and
their average score on the South Carolina Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (PASS) social

This class has one Individual Education Plan (IEP) and one 504 plan. The 504 plan
allows the student to have extra time on tests and assignments, if needed. The IEP allows the
student to type written assignments. The student is also allowed preferential seating near the
point of instruction to maintain focus and attention, and extended time (time and a half) on inclass assignments. Lastly, the student is allowed a resource period to complete
missing/incomplete assignments.

This IB design technology class meets during A block (8:00-9:03) on Mondays and
Wednesdays, and during B/C block (9:09-11:20) on Fridays. There are 23 students in this class,
all of whom are seniors. The demographics of the students are illustrated through graphical
representation on pages twenty-one and twenty-two. The gender distribution of these students is
majority (57%) female and 43% male. Racially, they are majority (91%) white, non-Hispanics.
The other 9% of students are black or African American.
The academic indicators used in this section include the students average grade point
average (GPA), their average percentile on the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test, and
their average score on the South Carolina Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (PASS) social

examination, the students scored in the exemplary category (675-900) with an average score of
718.
This class has one Section 504 Plan that allows the student to have preferential seating
arrangements. The student is also allowed extra time on assignments that require the use of the
right hand and is allowed to visit the school nurse at any time.
