V VALVE CONTROL SYSTEM

The position of steam supply valves of the turbine is controlled by a


piston cylinder arrangement called oil-driven engine in which the
EH oil enters into the cylinder of oil driven engine beneath the
piston. The hydraulic force of EH-oil on the position is balanced
by strong cylindrical spring on the upper part of the piston. The
steam of the piston is connected with the he level of the steam
supply valves.
Piston moves up or down due to the unbalanced force of hydraulic
force of EH-oil and elastic force of spring to open or close the
steam supply valve respectively.
There are two kinds of oil driven engine;
1. One is to control the main steam governor valves proportional
piston.
2. Other is to control the man steam stop valve, reheat main
steam valve and reheat governor valve which are wide open or cut
off valves.
Oil Driven engine for Main Steam Stop Valve
The main steam stop valve is either fully open or fully close by the
movement of oil driven engine whose steam is connected with the
level of main steam stop valve.
When hydraulic force of high pressure EH oil at the bottom head of
the piston of oil-driven engine is greater that the spraying force at
the upper part of the piston, the unbalanced for tends to move the
piston upward resulting the opening of steam valve.
When the hydraulic force of EH oil is less than that of the spraying
force than the piston moves down which closes the steam valve.

3. Isolation valve
4. Check valve.
5. Electro magnetic valve.

Isolation valve
Isolation valve is used for cut off the high pressure oil supply to the
oil driven engine during maintenance while the EH-oil pumps are in
service.
Check Valve
the check valve installed on the oil scavenger pipe prevents the high
pressure oil back flow from oil scavenger header of the oil driven
engine during on line maintenance.
the check valve installed on the emergency trip header prevents the
high pressure oil back flow from emergency trip header during
testing and maintenance on any one of the oil driven engine and
keeps the pressure in emergency trip header.
Flooding valve
Flooding valve installed on oil driven engine.
It is connected with the oil flowing line of the oil driven engine.
Emergency trip deader presser is made equal to that of the high
pressure oil maximum pressure by adjusting the pressure setting
stem.
The core of the pressure setting stem covers the oil hole with the
force provided by the spring.
The slide valve acted by the spring hydraulic force makes if move
down ward and prevent the oil from oil driven engine to
leak off to the return line.
When the oil in emergency trip header is relived then there is a
pressure drop at the upper part of the slide valve and hydraulic
pressure of high pressure oil over comes the spring force acted upon
the slide valve. this moves the slide valve upward to let the working
oil flow to the oil scavenging tank through return line.
Main steam stop valve can also be closed by manually operating
flooding valve.
Electro Magnetic valve
For remote closing of main steam stop valve to perform periodic
testing in valve steam test.
Check Valves
a) Check valve installed on the oil scavenger pipe to prevent the
back of low of oil from oil scavenging header to the oil driven
engine during maintenance.

b) Check valve installed on the emergency trip header to prevent


depressurization of emergency trip header during maintenance of
one of the oil driven engine while the others are working normally.
Flooding oil valve

Flooding oil valve installed between the oil driven engine and
oil scavenging line.

during normal operation pressure selecting adjust the pressure


to the max. value i.e., emergency trip oil header pressure is equal to
the line pressure oil pressure.

The core of the slide valve covers the oil hole with the spring
force and prevent the oil from oil driven engine to flow to the oil
scavenging line.

When emergency trip oil relieved the oil hole covered by the
core is open by upward movement of slide valve and drain the
working oil from oil drain engine.
Electro magnetic valve

This valve is used for remote closing of main steam stop valve
to perform periodic valve steam testing
Interruptible guide valve

Interruptible guide valve is closed by the high pressure oil

When this valve opens reduces the steam force on the main
steam stop valve shaft ( by releasing some amount of steam to the
atmosphere) to close at minimum resis tance
DRIVEN ENGINE FOR GOVERNOR VALVE
Oil driven engine for governor valve performing proportional
position control
Main components
a) Oil driven engine
b) EH converter (EH servo valve)
c) Flooding oil valve
d) LVDT (Linear variable differential transformer)
e) Isolation valve
f) Oil filter
g) one-way valve.

When the control system of oil driven engine for governor


valve is in service automatically, the control signal from the
computer will operate the valve.

The high pressure oil (EH-Oil) inters the oil driven engine via
isolation valve, oil filter and EH converter respectively.

The rotation rate of turbine or the given valve of load and


every feedback signal of turbine will send out a signal operates the
EH-convector.
VALVE CONTROL SYSTEM
IMPORTANT POINTS :
Main steam valve, Reheat steam valve and the reheat governor valve
are either full open or full close, so they dont need the EH
converter and the LVDT (Linear Variation Differential Transducer)
like for Governor valve.
Emergency trip control block installed on the right side of the front
bearing pedestal consists of two electromagnetic valves for the
overspeed protection control (OPC), four electromagnetic valves for
the accident safety trip (AST) and two check valves. (see fig4)
Main steam valve and reheat steam valve are attached with AST
header.
Governor valve and reheat governor valve are attached with OPC
header. Infect this is the difference between reheat steam valve and
reheat governor valve.
If AST header is depressurized then OPC header will also be
depressurized due to the two check valves mentioned above, but
due to these two check valves reverse case do not accrue.
Two OPC electromagnetic valves receives signal from DEH. When
the load increase to more than 30% and rotation rate reaches
