Schools Division Superintendents DivisionDistrict Supervisors Elementary/Secondary School Principals Head Teachers and Teachers In-charge For the systematic and orderly conduct of graduation exercises and other year-end activities for School Year 2008-2009, the following reminders are hereby reiterated: 1. The 2009 graduation rites shall focus on the theme “My Education: My Contribution to the Future” (Edukasyon Ko: Handog ko sa Kinabukasan). 2, Inline with the government's austerity program, public schools are NOT ALLOWED to collect any graduation fees or any kind of contributions for graduation rites. 3. The Assistant Schools Division Superintendents shall prepare the schedule of the commencement exercises for elementary and secondary schools in their areas of supervision. cDI = Dr. Betty C. No extravagant special attire for the ceremonies should be required. 5. The total number of school days for SY 2008-2009 per DepEd Order No. 22s. 2008 is 203. . ‘The format of the graduation program, the conduct of commencement exercises, the suggested script for the Master of Ceremonies, presentation and confirmation of graduates are enclosed for reference purposes. Immediate dissemination of this Memorandum to all concemed is desired. VICTORIA &. FUENTES ‘Schools Rivision Superintendent macase Inclosure No.1 THE CONDUCT OF COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES IN THE ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS: 1. To insure a solemn and systematic conduct of the commencement exercises, the following reminders are issued for the guidance of all concerned: 1.1 Schoo! heads shall observe austerity and simplicity on the conduct of the graduation program. 1.2 Graduation rites shall be held with solemnity and dignity. 1.3 Graduation programs shall be held early enough to avoid exposure of the graduates and audience to'the extreme heat of the sun and shall not extend up to or beyond lunch time or dinner time. However, for schools with covered courts and halls, graduation may be done any time of the day between 7:00 am. to 4:00 pm. 1.4 A good sound system should be provided for the program. Contingencies for brownouts should also be provided. 1.5 Attendance of teachers and schoo! officials is required. They are enjoined to ‘wear appropriate clothes for the occasion. 1.6 In the processional, the lowest section shall enter first, occupying the last rows of the seats, and the highest section to enter last occupying the front rows of the seats. After all the other graduates have entered, graduates with honors together with their parents shall enter and take the seats reserved for them, in front of the stage. 1.7 The master of ceremonies should officially acknowledge the presence of guests, government officials, and PTA officers before the graduating class is presented. In no case shall the numbers of the program be interrupted to announce the arrival of late guests. They shall be acknowledged after the Pledge of Loyalty of the graduates. 1.8 The master of ceremonies should strictly follow the script for the graduation program. No unnecessary ad-libs. 1.9 No intermission numbers (songs, dance numbers, etc.) should be included in the program. 1.10 Class advisers should have a ready list of candidates which they will read as. they call out the candidates” names. 1.10 Female high school graduates should avoid heavy make-up and female elementary school graduates should be advised not to have make-up at all. 1.11 The distribution of certificates /diplomas shall start with the lowest section of the graduating class going up the stage first, with Section 1 pupils/students as the last to receive their certificates/diplomas. 1.12 The respective class advisers shall call out from a prepared list the names of the graduating students, first name first as they go up the stage to receive their diplomas. 1.13 Only medals for the graduating honor pupils/students shall be awarded during the graduation program. Other awards and prizes including scholarships from NGOs’ shall be awarded during the Recognition Day Program. 1.14 The practice of the graduation songs should be done during Makabayan classes to avoid disruption in the schedule of other subject areas. 1.15 Rehearsals of the parts of the graduation program, particularly the processional, going up and down the stage, receiving of diploma and recessional shall be held a few days before graduation. Classes should not be disrupted for this activity. 1.16 Graduation rites in the Secondary Schools will be in English and in the Elementary Schools, in Filipino. 1.17 Nobody shall sit on stage, Division Officials and guests shall occupy the seats in front of the stage. 1.18 The Salutatorian/Second Honors shall lead the prayer and the Valedictorian/First Honors shall deliver the Valedictory address or Farewell Remarks. The speeches should be edited and not longer than four (4) paragraphs for the elementary, they should be written in Filipino, for the secondary, they should be in English. 1.19 The foregoing reminders should be disseminated to all parents, teachers and graduates. Drafts of graduation program are due in the Division Office for checking by the respective Assistant Schools Division Superintendent a week prior to graduation. The program shall only be a one-page printed or mimeographed material and should be in Filipino for the elementary and English for the high school. The list of graduating students shall be included in the school paper inserted in the graduation program. Only the Secretary of Education, the Mayor and the Congressman of the district or their representatives shall deliver messages. Other government officials and guests may be invited to distribute diplomas and shake hands with the graduates as they descend the stage. Bilang pagbubukas ng palatuntunan, ang madia'y inaanyayahang tumayo para sa pag- awit ng LUPANG HINIRANG (na pamumunuan ng CHORALE, kung mayroon) sa pagkumpas ni , susundan po ito ng pag-awit ng Imno ng Lungsod Quezon, sa pagkumpas ni at ng Panalangin na pamumunuan ni Salutatoryan(High School)/Batang nagkamit ng Pangalawang Karangalan. (Elem.) 3. Masasaksihan po natin ngayong hapong/umagang ito ang ika___taong pagtatapos sa Paaralang Sekundaryang/Elementaryang . ‘Malugod po naming ipinababatid na sa mahalagang pagdiriwang na ito ay kapiling natin ang ating Kagalang-galang na Punong Lungsod, Mayor Feliciano R. Ipakikilala ang mga magsisipagtapos at patutunayan ng ating punungguro, na si ang kanilang pagtatapos sa Taong Panuruang 2008-2009 sa Paaralang Sekundaryang/Elementaryang at susundan po ito ng pogpapatibay at pagkakaloob ng Katibayan ng pagiatapos ng ating _pinagpipitaganang. Pababaunan ang mga nagsipagtapos ng mahahalagang mensahe mula sa ating dalawang panauhing pandangal na ipakikilala ng ating Punungguro na si, 6. Maraming salamat po, Kagalang-galang na Kongresman at Mayor ng Lungsod Quezon, sa inyo pong napakahalagang mensahe na ibinahagi ninyo sa amin sa araw nna ito, Natitiyak po namin na ang inyong mensahe ay magsisilbing inspirasyon at gabay namin sa pagtahak sa bagong landas ng pakikipagsapalaran tungo sa maunlad nna kinabukasan, BIGYAN PO NATIN SILA NG MASIGABONG PALAKPAKAN. 7. Sa paggagawad ng Medalya ng Karangalan sa mga nangungunang mag-aaral ay hinibiling namin na umakyat sa tanghalan ang kani-kanilang mga magulang upang igawad ang medalya ng karangalan. Sila'y tutulungan ng ating Punungguro at ng TAGAPAMANIHALA. Ang nagkamit ng ika- karangalang banggit ay si atbp. PALAKPAKAN PO NATIN SILA 8. Ngayon naman pakinggan natin ang pamamaalam ni ang Balediktoryan/Batang Nagkamit ng Unang karangalan 9. Hinihiling na magsitayo ang mga nagsipagtapos para sa kanilang Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa pangunguna ni ang Balediktoryan/Batang nagkamit ng Unang karangalan. 10, Bago ang pangwakas na Awit, malugod po naming ipinababatid na kapiling din natin ngayon sina . Kanina po lamang ay kepiling din natin si subali't dahil po sa iba pa niyang “commitments” ay nagpasabi po siyang hindi na niya tatapusin ang seremonyang ito. 11. Ngayon po'y pakinggan natin ang mga nagsipagtapos para sa pangwakas na awit na pinamagatang, sa pamumuno ng Chorale, (kung ‘mayroon) at sa pagkumpas ni 7 12, Sa ngalan po ng pamunuan ng aming paaralan at mga guro, taos-pusong binabati namin ang mga nagsipagtapos, ang kanilang mga magulang, mga gurong pumatnubay at fubos po kaming nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng mga tumulong, nagbigay ng mga medalya at gantimpala, mga panauhing nagsidalo at nakiisa, sa pagtatapos na ito. Maraming - maraming salamat po at mabubay tayong lahat. 13. Mga Kaibigan, ang resesyonal ay pangungunahan ng mga panauhin, tagapamanihale, punungguro, puno ng kagawaran, magulang, guro at nagsipagtapos. Your words will surely guide our graduates as they tread ‘anew path in their lives. May your messages motivate them to strive harder. LET’S GIVE THEM ANOTHER BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE. 7.
