Tropaeolum minus
Family: Tropaeolaceae
Vining annual. Native to Peru, Bolivia, Colombia and Brazil. Empress is an
heirloom strain grown at Horizon, with large, orange or red, velvety flowers and
pungent buds. The plant is highly decorative, adds a stimulating, peppery taste to
salads and will cheer the dreary drears of a cold. Cultivation: Easy. Direct-seed in
the garden after last frost or start in containers and keep there or transplant. Average
germ. time 12 days.
