1. Quizzes

They used quizzes because it has a big part in grading


system, it is very traditional evaluation type of
assessment.

2. Seat works

They do the seat works in motivation part, evaluation,


group activities and to test whether the objectives are
achieved by the students.

3. Paper-pencils works

It is very usual especially in mathematics subject,


because in mathematics solutions are required for the
students so that the process is also assessed.

4. Other Exams/ Tests

It is also a part of the grading system, they used it after a


chapter, sometimes it is long test. The objective of this is
to examine the student knowledge about the topic.

They used portfolio assessments by compiling the
students achievement in quizzes, and some paper works,

They used projects assessment method like compilation
of word problem with solutions involving solids figures.

The project was very creative and very authentic, so it
was recommended in assessment method because of its
effectiveness.
Teachers observation in every individual student like

behavior of the students.

By the used of performance in mathematics like


reporting, and other performance like jingle making can
make the students very active inside the room and also
engaged in learning process.

Your Analysis
Was there a variety of assessment methods used by the teacher? How
relevant was/were the assessment methods used?

The teacher used a variety of assessment methods particularly in


conventional assessment methods, the teacher used quizzes, seat works and paper
pencil seat works. It is relevant for the variety of learning styles of the students.
Students of the classroom are heterogeneous when it comes to their learning style, so
using variety of assessment methods is very relevant, because some of students are
dominant in assessing verbally in oral recitation, some are logical learner, some are
visual spatial learner.
Do you think the expected students learning behaviours indicated in the
objectives were properly and appropriately assessed through those assessment methods?
Sometimes, because the teachers always used a traditional assessment
like paper works particularly in mathematics. Yes, sometimes they varied their
assessment but in a normal class especially in mathematics they always used same
assessment like paper-pencil works and oral recitation. And the behavior of the
students is sometimes not properly assessed so that the expected objectives are not
properly assessed.

Write your personal reflection of thoughts and feelings about the


importance in the use of appropriate assessment methods in the classroom, including
what students and teachers can gain from appropriate assessment tools. Share your
reflection with your FS teacher and classmates.

Assessment methods in the classroom is very important for the


learners, it is the integrative process of what the students learned from the subject
area. A variety of assessment is essential to the learners to test the ability of the
learners to do a particular task related to the topic they tackled. The importance of
authentic assessment in k-12 curriculum is application of the learnings in real life
situation.
In Mapulang Lupa National High School, they used a variety of
assessment like oral recitation, seat works, quizzes, intervention, module, exams and
other projects. They also used portfolio assessment particularly in mathematics
subject. Using variety of assessment can integrate the learners in authentic
assessment. It is very valid for the evidence of the students performance.
Classroom environment in assessing students is a big factor in assessing
students, ventilation and the area of the classroom, also the things inside the
classroom like desk, chairs are the factor in assessing students because sometimes
the student are not comfortable when they assessed by quizzes, seat works, oral
recitation and others. Lack of materials are also a factor, because they cannot meet
the objectives of assessment because of these problems.
