Aesthetics is the study of


Beauty and taste, whether in
the form of comic, tragic and
sublime.
AESTHETICS
IN THIS DEFINITION
IS
SOMETHING THAT
APPEALS TO THE SENSES.

It comes from the root


word:
Aesthesia: the ability to
feel or perceive; being
awake and able to feel
senses.
The opposite is:
Anesthesia: the inability to
feel or perceive; to be
asleep or non-feeling.

CONCEPT OF UNITY

TheConcept of Unity deals


with visual composition in
design. Composition means
the relationship between the
visual elements.

The brick work, timber and concrete which


gives structural support form the visual
composition.

compositional units.

vertically and horizontally.

SCALE AND PROPORTION

Scale : Size relationship between two


separate object.

Proportion : Comparative or relative


relationship between the parts to a whole
within one image.

Rhythm : A sense of movement created by


repetition of multiple units in a deliberate
pattern.

e.g., proportion b/w hands to
whole body.

GOLDEN

RATIO

Two quantities are said to be in the


Golden Ratio, if their ratio is same as the
ratio b/w their sum to the larger of the
two quantities.
