9 Gifts
Many Gifts, Many Members, One Body
Each and every church member is clearly a part of the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And God has
placed in the church first of all apostles (no longer in this church age), second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then
gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all
teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? Now eagerly desire
the greater gifts(I Cor. 12:28-31). I pray you not only seek and discover your gifts but that you utilize them to the
strengthening of the Body of Christ, for which you are a part. If you are not, then today is the time to become part of
Christs church because members of this body will live on into eternity.

The Gift of Wisdom

The first gift Paul mentions is the gift of wisdom (v 8). It is listed first perhaps because it is foundational to the church and
this is a gift that the believer can earnestly desire (v 31). It entails loving His Word and being obedient to what it says.
There is no wisdom in disobedience

The Gift of Knowledge

Some people have such a gift of remembering scriptures. They have knowledge of God and His ways. They seem to be able
to quickly distinguish which is biblical and which is not. Some translations say it is the Word of knowledge while others
say that it is the utterance of knowledge.

The Gift of Faith

Those with this gift are truly amazing in how they see things. They tend to exude confidence in all situations. This is a
person more like God. He sees things that arent as if they already are!

The Gift of Healing

This gift to the church is to confirm that Jesus Christs name has power and that God is working in the church. The gift of
healing may be in relations to the power of prayer and we know that the effectual prayer of a righteous man or woman can
accomplish miracles (James 5:16)

The Gift of Miracles

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will
accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up
serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick,
and they will recover.( Mark 16:16-18)
Healing and Miralces often work hand in hand, but make no mistake God will manifest the gift of miracles in a variety of
ways. Whereas people who are gifted to do healings may only be gifted to specifically for the healing ministry, miracles are
varying and are not limited by just what man views as a miracle. God may perform a miracle through you and you may
not be aware. The miracle ministry is one that God intends us to use on a daily basis when possible.

The Gift of Prophecy

Prophecy has several different interpretations. The literal translation here is that it is speaking forth the Word of God.
And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters
shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants
and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. (Act 2:17-18)
Yes The Holy Spirit gives the gift to see things yet to come. He gives us strategies to overcome coming hardships. He
gives divine visions and warnings to people of things that are yet to come. He calls things that people may see as
acceptable as false or harmful. He exposes the hidden parts of people. He helps in the interpretation of visions that others
see. Prophesy also deals with calling some things that are not so, to be so.

The Gift of Distinguishing Spirits

John 15:26 But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from
the Father, he will bear witness about me.
The Lord gives us a way to understand what things are of God and what things are not. We can, as the bible says test
the spirits and know when the spirit calls us to do certain things. We can tell the spirit in which certain things are said and
or understand the spiritual significance behind why something was said a certain way. This Spiritual gift is for the astute
and very observant. This one may take time to develop as well, because the spirits can be very deceptive.

The Gift of Speaking in Tongues

Acts 2:4 ESV
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance
Romans 8:26 ESV
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself
intercedes for us with groaning too deep for words
This is a Prayer Language to God which can either pray the perfect prayer or be used to pray aloud as a message of
prophesy to the church. When spoken aloud you will need someone with the gift of Interpretation of tongues, or you
should not share a message in tongues.

The Gift of Interpretation of Tongues

1 Cor 14:4-30Acts 2:1-47 ESV
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like
a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to
them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as
the Spirit gave them utterance. Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven.
This is the discernment or understanding of what the Holy Spirit is saying to the church or people, while a message of
tongues has been given. This is an act of being obedient if the Spirit so impresses you to speak after a message in tongues
has been given generally. If a message in tongues has been given, it is up to the interpreter to be obedient to deliver the
message to the congregation so they may understand the message that has been given.
