Using a checklist, find out the evident
classroom components.
Describe how the classroom is
structured/designed to allow everyone to
participate in the learning activities.

learners behaviour.
Reflect on how classroom management
affects learning.

Your Tools
Use the activity form provided for you to document your
observations.

An Observation Guide for the Learners

Characteristics
Read the following statements carefully. Then write your
observation report on the provided space.
1. As you observe the class, look into the characteristics of the learners.
Note their ages.
2. How many boys are there? How many girls?
3. Focus on their behaviour. Are they already able to manage their own
behaviour?
4. Can the learners already work independently?
5. Describe their span of attention.
6. Look into their listening skills and ability to concentrate.

Location of the School: Sta. Lucia Village Phase
V, Punturin, Valenzuela City
Date of Visit: December 14, 2015
The learners age ranges about 15 to 17 years old. Male
learners have more number than female. They easily get bored when
the time passes by more than 30 minutes. Some of them really dont
have interest about that subject, but you will also see some students
who would really listen to their teacher just to understand the lesson.
Most of them have difficulties in answering some problems regarding
to their lesson, so the teacher calls them one by one and lets the
students to answer b their own. They easily get destruct when other
people are watching or observing them. They tend to say some jokes
and always having fun with the teacher that shows that the teacher

An Observation Guide for the CLASSROOM VISIT

Be guided by these questions as you do your observation
of the classroom management. It is also good to ask the
teacher for additional information so you can verify your
observation. Write your notes below; and then organize your
data in the table that follows.
1. Are there areas in the classroom for specific purposes
(storage of teaching aids, books, students belongings,
supplies, etc.)
2. Are there rules and procedures posted in the room?
3. Did the students participate in making the classroom rules?
4. What are the daily routines done by the teacher? (prayer,
attendance, assignment of monitors, warm-up activities,
etc.) How are they done?
5. Is there a seating arrangement? What is the basis of this
arrangement?
6. Observe the noise level in the classroom. How is this
managed?
7. If a learner is not following instructions or is off-task, what
does the teacher do?
8. What does the teacher do to reinforce positive behaviours?
(behaviour strategies)
Observation notes:
There are some posts inside the classroom that contains
quotations or memory verses that would really teach the
students to live I peace and harmony with other students.

Your Analysis
1. How did the classroom organization and routines affect the
learners behaviour?
When they have rules and regulations inside the classroom, they
will feel that they are under the teachers authority. The
procedures inside the class will become more organized and
systematize. The learners will avoid doing unnecessary things
during the class because they have plenty of things to do, such
as graded recitations, quiz, seatwork, or activities.
2. What should the teacher have in mind when she/he designs the
classroom organization and routines? What theories and
principles should you have in mind?
The teacher considers the behaviour of the learners, he/she
thinks that the students will get bored when they have nothing to
do. The learners should be organized when they check their
assignments, quizzes and seatwork, for them to maximize their

time with a minimal amount of effort.

3. Which behaviour strategies were effective in managing the
behaviour of the learners? In motivating students> Why were
they effective?
The student will always have in their mind that they will have
their quiz or eamz every Thursday and Friday, so they will exert
more effort to study and to recall what they have discussed.

Your Reflections
1. Improve yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what
grade/year level do you see yourself? What routines and
procedures would you consider for this level? Why?
I see myself teaching in high school. I will always have graded
recitation as an activity every after lesson or topic. I will
encourage them to do peer tutoring.
2. Make a list of the rules you are likely to implement in this level.
Why would you choose these rules?
Student shall not be late
No exchanging of seats (follow the seat plan)

3. Should learners be involved in making the class rules? Why?

Yes, because they need to have discipline and in order for them
to build obedience to the authority.
