3. Ask the students:

Has anyone been to an Asian country before?

If yes, what country did you go to?

What country would you most like to go to?

Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

4. Teacher then begins to explain the task ahead to students:
Today we are going to be making HSTRY timelines for the year 2016
so that we are able to figure out the best time of the year to go on our
holiday to one of the 4 Asian countries we have been studying on the
iPad. You are going to make it on the same Asian country that you did
last lesson. In your timeline you should include, holidays, birthdays,
culture holidays or events of your country that you are doing and
anything else that you think is important.
5. Use the timeline that you had created as an example to show the
students how they can make their own. Explain to students that:
To make a HSTRY timeline they have to sign up with your Google
account, then enter the class code to find the lesson Asia timelines
lesson. The code is 20891.
(This will allow for you as the
teacher to view the students
progress in their timelines. It
will also make it easier for
assessment.).
Once they have done this they
can go to the create a timeline
option and begin. Students
start by choosing their title and
then writing a description on
what your timeline will be
about. Then add an optional
heading if desired and press
the + button to begin your

Timeline website:

timeline. Students can choose from the options as shown above to
add different objects to their timelines.
6. Express to students that if they are stuck with setting up their timeline
that they can go to the HSTRY help page on the Weebly website. Ask
students to return to their desks and begin to sign up to the HSTRY
website. Once students have signed up they can begin with making
their timeline.
7. Walk around and assist students when they need it.
Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)
1. To close the lesson the teacher will go onto the class page and ask
students to show some of their timelines.
What holidays did you include?
What special dates did you include?
Did you include any pictures?
What special culture holidays did you include for your
country?
2. Students will then do a Kahoot.it survey using the iPads. This will
provide feedback to the teacher as to how the students liked the
HSTRY website and what they included.

Transition: (What needs to happen prior to the next lesson?)

1. Students are to return to the mat, sit quietly and wait for further
instructions.
Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be judged?)
1. Assessment will be based on the forum created that will include all of
the timelines the students created. It will show if the students
understand the cultural events that occur in their country and when
exactly they happen (objective 1).
2. Students completing the timeline to a successful level will show that
they understand the importance of a timeline and how they are
important (objective 2). Also the Kahoot.it survey will show what the
students think are important to include into their timeline.
