BEGINNING

I will arrange the material on a small group activity table before starting my activity. Then I will
encourage the children to join the activity by singing a song,
Come on over,
Come on over
And sit down around the table.
The children who will have interest, would like to come and join the activity. I will ask them
about the name of material. I will ask, I wonder if you tell me the name of this material.
If it is difficult for them to name the material, then I will tell them the name and let them to
explore the material.

MIDDLE

1. Material: Material will be developmentally appropriate. It will help children to develop


their fine motor and Mathletics skills. It will also help them to develop the skill of critical
thinking.
2. Choices: Children can use the material according to their wishes. Some children may like
to make different types of sculptures. Whereas, some others may like to make different
types of shapes out of this material.
3. Manipulation: I will provide the children enough time to explore the material. They will
use their hands and ideas to make shapes and sculptures.
4. Childs language: Children may like to communicate with each other about their
creations. I will also ask them some open ended questions.
5. Adult scaffolding: I will be on childrens level and imitate their actions throughout the
whole activity. I will also make some observational comments.
END/TRANSITION
Towards the end of my activity, I will give the children five minutes warning. I will say Ok

children, 5 more minutes, and then we are done.


After 3 minutes, I will say, Okay children we have two more minutes. Then we will put the
material away and wash our hands.
After 2 minutes, I will say, Okay everybody, we are done It is time to put away the materials
away and wash our hands. I will sing a tidy up song. I will also sing a song, Its time to tidy up.
To transition the children to the next activity I will tell the children to wash their hand and go to
play.
