instructions and quiz.
Teacher to have marked all the students research notes.
Prepare Phase Two Envelopes Orders and Background
Information Folder (students marked research notes).

Holiday in Asia
In your mail boxes you will find your orders for phase two, collect your orders
and proceed to your desks. DO NOT OPEN THEM UNTIL INSTRUCTED.

Students you may now open your orders for phase two. In your orders pack
you will find your Phase Two Orders and the background information to
complete them. (Ask one of the students to read the Phase Two Order out to
the Class).
Phase Two - Convincing the Parents!
Your next mission in our covert operation is to write your persuasive
speech that you will be recording to go with your iMovie.

Class before we start the mission lets brainstorm what we know about writing
persuasively. Prompt students with hints like type of language, structure of the
text, arguments that might be used, counterarguments, words that might be
used to persuade, who the audience is for this persuasive speech.

Students please open our web quest on the laptops and go to the Phase Two
Tab.
Today students we will be using read write thinks Persuasive Map that is
available on their website readwritethink.org. This is a tool to help you develop
each component of your persuasive speech.

Final Prompt: This prompt gives the opportunity to review the map and to go
back to make changes. The persuasion map can be saved at any point and
worked on again at a later time.
Students we are going to stop working on the persuasive speech activity now
so please save your work. Once you have saved your work I would like you to
go click on the lesson review button to complete a quick quiz on todays
lesson.

Students are to pack away their phase two order packs making sure to place
the background research into the pack also.
Once they have packed away they may head outside for recess.

the project, through questioning of individual students during
this lesson on observed word choice and responses to questions
within the quiz.

presented in persuasive speech.
