The human life span explained

On the first day, God created the dog and said, Sit
all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone
who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a
life span of twenty years.
The dog said, Thats a long time to be barking.
How about only ten years and Ill give you back the
other ten?

So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and
said, Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh.
For this, Ill give you a 20-year life span.
The monkey said, Monkey tricks for 20 years?
Thats a pretty long time to perform. How about I give
you back 10 like the dog did?

And God agreed.
On the third day, God created the cow and said,
You must go into the field with the farmer all day long
and suffer under the sun, have calves, and give milk to
support the farmers family. For this, I will give you a life
span of 60 years.

The cow said, Thats kind of a tough life you want
me to live for 60 years. How about twenty and Ill give
back the other forty?

And God agreed again.

On the fourth day, God created man and said, Eat,
sleep, play, marry, and enjoy your life. For this, Ill give
you 20 years.
But man said, Only twenty years? Could you
possibly give me my 20, the 40 the cow gave back, the
10 the monkey gave back, and the 10 the dog gave back;
that makes 80, okay?

Okay, said God, You asked for it.

So that is why for our first 20 years we eat, sleep,
play, and enjoy ourselves. For the next 40 years we slave
in the sun to support our family. For the next 10 years
we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren.
And for the last 10 years we sit on the front porch and
bark at everyone.

Our young daughter had adopted a stray cat. To
my distress, he began to use the back of our new sofa as
a scratching post.

Dont worry, my husband reassured me. Ill have
him trained in no time.

I watched for several days as my husband patiently
trained our new pet. Whenever the cat scratched, my
husband deposited him outdoors to teach him a lesson.
The cat learned quickly. For the next 16 years, whenever
he wanted to go outside, he scratched the back of the sofa.

Grizzly Bear Delisting

After nearly 41 years under Endangered Species Act
protection, the grizzly bear population in the Greater
Yellowstone Area has reached recovery.
Once the delisting rule is final, this ESA success
story will mean management of the bears in the GYA
will transition to the states of Idaho, Wyoming and
Montana. Conservation efforts in Montana and by
Montanans have been instrumental in recovery of this
iconic species.
The goal of the ESA is to recover threatened and
endangered species and, with adequate monitoring and
safeguards in place, turn over management to the states.
We have achieved this goal, all recovery criteria have
been met, the bear is recovered, and assurances are in
place to maintain a healthy and viable population of
bears in the GYA.

Whats happening?
The GYA grizzly bear population has been recovered
for over a decade; The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
delisted grizzlies in 2007 but that decision was
overturned by a federal court due to what appeared
to be a diminishing food source. That issue has since
been addressed.
With the courts concerns about a previous delisting
proposal addressed, recovery goals met, and
the states commitment to maintain a recovered
population in place, the USFWS has published a
proposed rule to delist federally threatened grizzly
bears in the GYA.
Montana, Idaho and Wyoming are committed to
cooperatively managing the recovered population
throughout the GYA, and will formalize this
commitment through adoption of a tri-state
Memorandum of Agreement.
The protections for grizzly bears that brought them
to recovered status arent going away.
Management of grizzly bears in Montana will be
conservative, and will be similar to how they have
been managed for the past decade, with an emphasis
on minimizing conflicts between bears and people,
while allowing bears to occur where they are
tolerated.
The public will have ample opportunity to comment
on the proposed rule.
Upon removal from the Endangered Species List
in late 2016 at the earliest the states will carry out
their grizzly bear conservation and management
commitments for GYA grizzly bears.

Letter to the Buzz

A young Jack Kolstad plays a little catch during the Glasgow Reds 2013 season.

Reds Baseball, Only a Dream?

Some of you might not know that the Legion Reds
baseball team could become a thing of the past. With 28
Babe Ruth players and 9 Reds Legion players the Legion
team will not be able to continue.

Yes, 28 Babe Ruth players. You might be wondering
why the Babe Ruth players will not step up to the Legion
team? Its because they might have an All Star team that
could go to Regionals. Yes, they could get a trophy. But
at the cost of losing a great legion program.
Some may say, there is always next year.
Unfortunately that will not be the case. Once a baseball
team is out for a season it will have to reapply. They
always get turned down the first year. If they make it
back in the second year they are not allowed to play in
any tournament games. When Plentywood, Scobey and
Wolf Point lost their Legion programs they could not
bring them back. Players had moved on to other things
and kids had lost the basic baseball skills.
This is not just about losing a great American
sport for our community. This could be our childrens
future. Coach Sprague has coached many great ball
players who have continued to play college ball. Can

you imagine, playing at college level? Or how about a

scholarship? The scouts wont take future ball players
who have received a trophy at the 15U All Stars. Your
baseball carrier will end the same day you accomplished
one of your greatest challenges. If you are 16 you may
have a shot to get back on the field at the age of 18. But
with two years of training lost its going to be hard.
Parents, its our job to educate our children. Give them
the stepping stones they need to become great citizens in
our community. The Legion team has helped with this.
The last 5 years the Reds have received the Sportsmanship
award at most tournaments. Coach Sprague has helped
teach our kids respect, sportsmanship and a sense of
brother hood they can not get anywhere else. After one
season these kids come back with their heads held high
and a sense of pride that can take them anywhere. Some
parents can only dream about sending their kids to a
place like this.

So ask yourselves, is this a program worth losing?
Are we ready for our baseball community to come to an
end?
Please put the word out. Keep our community strong.
Baseball doesnt have to be just a sport. It can be a
lifestyle!
