Administration), is the U.S.s main space program and has been training and preparing the future
astronauts for life in space (Kennedy Space Program). NASA has sent a few people into orbit
around the Earth to give them the feel for life in space, allowing them to know what they will be
withstanding in the future. This preperation of life in space foreshadows that we will be sending
many more astronauts to space.
Another opportunity which has come with the exploration of space is the exchanging of
ideas and information. Through all of Earths explorations, America has been able to connect
with people and countries all around the world: exchanging and comparing our ideas. For
example, America has exchanged ideas of our moon with other countries. We have theorized so
the moon is the debris of a planet so hit Earth (Theia). Most scientist and theorists have accepted
this theory to be the most accurate theory on the creation of moon. The Theia impact theory
disclosed the length of the Earths day cycle (3.1 hours), and the size of Theia - approximately a
Mars-mass body at 9 km/s. Theia hit the proto-Earth at about a 45 angle the impact creates a
disk massive enough to make a moon, but the disk is composed primarily of the impactor which
does not explain the isotope similarity between the Earth and the moon (Giant impact video,
Origin of the Moon).
Thanks to our advancements with technology, America has been making arrangements to
send more ships to Mars. We have exchanged ideas and even teamed up with other countries to
build a better spacecraft which can convey more information wirelessly down to Earth. All of
this happened because America exchanged information. Also, the exchange of space theories and
ideas for space travel has given us better spacecrafts which are lighter and more aerodynamic for
better flights. N.A.S.A disclosed the new space technology being created all the time is from the
cooperation from other scientists and the exchange of ideas (Super spaceships).
A third positive out of the exploration of space is encountering new happenstances. One
of the objects we encountered is the lack of gases in space, which means no sound. There is no
gas in space because space is a vacuum, which means it is filled with nothing, not even gas. No
sound can resonate out of a space suit because of the lack of gas. The only way sound can
resonate in space is if there is a radio to communicate. Another thing astronauts encountered in
space is zero-gravity, or zero-g. Zero-gravity was an effect the astronauts encountered in space.
Zero-gravity is like a falling effect with no wind and no ground to hit, like in water forever, but
unable to move around unless they push off other objects. If someone goes away from the large
mass of matter, like Earth, the effect gravity has on them will decrease. Plus, the larger the mass
or planet the larger amount of gravity it has.
Astronauts have encountered many objects in space. The environment is very different
for us than the environment is on Earth. In space, we send astronauts to explore the vast, majestic
frontier. Astronauts have encountered many objects on their journeys, and through their
encounters we have learned many new things. But with all of Americas successes, it has suffered
many losses. On our journey to reach the stars, we have lost many astronauts. For some
astronauts, N.A.S.A has remembered the loses of their lives and remembers their sacrifices
(NASA remembers three space tragedies). Despite all of our failures and losses, it was for the
better. Without the loses astronauts, we would not have made it to space, let alone the moon.
These brave men know there is no hope for their recovery. But they also know there is hope for
mankind in their sacrifice. (To Body Go Where No Body Has Gone Before). But from the
ashes, we have risen to new heights and have gained new accomplishments.
Overall, space exploration gave us a new frontier to explore, a new fascination to have,
and a new generation for explorers. The vast amount of room we have in space will slowly fill up
as we discover new ways to inhabit other planets and to let our curiosity soar to the stars and
beyond. Welcome to the next era of the human race: the Space Age.
