Understanding the

readers form expectations

Highlight reels are a prime
example of a website
showing its bias toward a
particular team. As
mentioned in my initial
argument, the existence of
bias could draw or detract
from potential audience
members.
Having expectations about a
particular genre can help
audience members determine
what exemplifies a good
source, in their personal
opinion.
Understanding genres can
help readers make decisions
about if a genre is in fact able

from it.

When I went back and edited this paper, I thought a lot about whether it was better to try
to keep the initial structure I had in my paper and improve it as much as I could or if I should go
for it and completely rearrange the paper. I went with the second option. I took the bulk of my
essay (all of the body paragraphs) and copy and pasted it over to a separate document before I
poem-ified it. After moving things around quite a bit, I began to put together thoughts and
evidence I had about particular conventions, as opposed to from particular sources. I think my
paper definitely has a better flow to it now, as my ideas are all thoughtfully grouped together
instead of scattered around by keeping them restricted by paragraphs by source. The change
definitely seems for the betterhopefully readers agree!
