SOUTH AFRICA AND

SWAZILAND
KANGWANE
Dispute: Swaziland claims that during colonial times, territories were
taken from them. So they want it back.

Status: Ended on 26 April, 1994. Territory is part of Mpumalanga now.

FRANCE, MAURITIUS, AND SEYCHELLES

TROMELIN ISLANDS

Dispute: Tromelin Islands is located around Mauritius and Seychelles.

France claims the territory due to their kind being there first. The
British was also part of the dispute saying that it was in their zone.

Status: France claimed and showed proof that it was closer to them.
Mauritius and France made an agreement on 2010

IRAN AND UAE (UNITED ARAB

EMIRATES)
ABU MASA

Dispute: Since the island is a pinpoint of oil production, these 2

countries fought for the right. Iran says that the UK at first occupied
it.

Status: Iran is now in full control of the territory.

PAKISTAN, INDIA, AND

CHINA
GILGIT-BALTISAN
Dispute: The mountainous area is bordering three countries: China,
Afghanistan, and Pakistan. It is mainly a tourism site and has beautiful
scenery.

Status: Pakistan is now in full control of the territory.

PAKISTAN AND INDIA

JAMMU AND KASHMIR

Dispute: Jammu and Kashmir are bordering two major countries,

Pakistan and India. Its location is at the Himalayan Mountains and it
is has numerous shrines that attract the Hindus from the region.

Status: India is full control of territory

BURMA AND THAILAND

DOI LANG

Dispute: Doi lang or the national park located there, is at the border
of Thailand and Burma. The trails of this park reaches to the border of
Burma. It contains numerous amount of exotic birds and is the
location for birdwatchers.

Status: Burma is full control of the territory.

ISRAEL AND SYRIA

GOLAN HEIGHTS
Dispute: The location is between
2 countries. The Golan heights
has acceptable amounts in both
countries. Golan heights is
famous for the Six day war,
occupied by Israel, which Israel
annexed in 1981. Both countries
have different outlook and history.
Status: Israel has full control of
territory.

JAPAN AND RUSSIA

SOUTH KURIL ISLANDS (NORTHERN
TERRITORIES

Dispute: The islands is located between Japan and Russia. Some parts
are already claimed by Japan but the northern part was in dispute
with Russia. There was a war, and during WWI the islands were given
to Russia.
Status: Russia has now settled and is full control of territory.

BURMA AND THAILAND

PASS

Dispute: Some parts of the pass are lying between the 2 countries.
Parts like the exit or entrance are bordering in both countries.

Status: Both countries hold full control of their share on each side of
their territory.

RUSSIA AND UKRAINE

CRIMEAN PENINSULA
Dispute: This was one of the most recent dispute happening. In 2014,
Ukraine and Russia launched a war for this territory alone. Several
Russian forces snuck in and took the capitals and cities of Crimea.
After a long, grueling process, the war ended.

Status: Crimea is now part of Russia and Russia holds full control of
territory.
