Guidelines for Statement of Purpose

Write a narrative between 800- 1000 words indicating the Statement of Purpose. It should
be written in Times Roman 12 with 1.5 spacing and in justified alignment. The narrative
should convey that you have determination and preparedness for pursuing management
education. You may wish to highlight how you have made the right choice for the
programme(s) that you are applying. Give examples from your past academic background
and work experience by mentioning personal attributes that you think would help you
make a career in management.
The narrative should specifically respond to the following:
1. Candid description of yourself, stressing those personal attributes that influence your
orientation towards work
2. Reasons to pursue the Management Programme? How relevant is the same to your
long term goals?
3. Where do you see yourself 5 years after the completion of the Management
Programme.
Aspirants will be evaluated on the following parameters:

Clarity - Purposeful presentation made in a persuasive manner for choice of career in


management

Honesty Reflecting genuineness without attempting to inflate attributes or


achievements

Maturity Making a realistic and objective assessment about ones past, present and
future

Positive Conveying optimism about future efforts and goals in the field of management

Originality Creative presentation without simply borrowing or copying ideas
