The V-2 ballistic rockets created in 1942 by Wernher von Braun crashed into many cities

without warning, such as London, Norwich, Paris, Lille and Antwerp. It took just five minutes
from launch to landing. V stood for vergeltungswaffen, or retaliatory weapon, and were a lastditch attempt by the Germans to reverse the course of the war. The V-2 rocket explored a new
Space Age as it wasn the world's first space rocket. The Germans explored many uses for the
rocket. The V-2 rocket explored a new field of technology. After the Russians and US confiscated
the rockets and their creators and used it to study and to build many new things that have
revolutionized the world. The big question is whether to take the rocket apart and burn it or to
use it to help the world in many ways. The V-2 ballistic rocket should be used in warfare and
technological advancements because it will expand our knowledge on the previously unknown
world of space, it will help commit a wide scale attack under the radar, it will result in the end of
the production of fossil fuels, and it will improve and add theories to modern day physics and
aerodynamics, contrary to the negative drawbacks that are present when preserving the V-2
ballistic rocket.
Firstly, the V-2 ballistic rocket can expand our knowledge on space. For years to come
the US and the Soviet Union have only dreamed of sending a man to space. Wernher Von Braun
the creator of the V-2 rocket also created the rocket for the first Apollo mission. The unique V-2
engine and unorthodoxed fuel makes it such a significant machine and if that technology could
be applied on rockets that went to the moon it would mean much less efficient released. For
instance The V-2 was also the first ballistic missile, pioneering the large liquid-propellant rocket
engines that form essentially the same technology that has since taken probes to the outer solar
system, powered nuclear missiles and put humans on the moon. (New Scientist. 9/6/2014, Vol.
223 Issue 2985, p48-48. 1p. 1 Black and White Photograph. Mick OHare)The V-2 rocket can
bring us farther than we have ever been in space research. It can take us farther than we have
ever been and look for more suitable habitats for humans. The rocket could only touch the tip of
space and would not spend much time there so it would be hard to use the same engine to bring
us up to space. It did go to decent heights but not high enough to take us to mars or even to the
moon. This is not good and could is not useful in today's advanced technological fieldOn the
horizon, I saw three streaks go up into the air and disappear into the stratosphere. The V-2 rocket
could go higher than any other rockets at the time but now those standards are not very high
anymore. For example, he recalls (Richard Hollingham) The rocket does not go astronomically
high. It hits the stratosphere and then comes down. it does not even stay there for very long.
Although that the rocket could not get to pluto we could innovate the rockets design and use it to
get farther in space. If we can harness enough power than we maybe able to go to mars. The V-2
rocket designed by the Germans was well in front. Not only could it reach altitudes much greater
than any height previously attained by any other rocket or by other means. Here Google
Scholar. We could improve upon the already amazing idea. If we can successfully do than maybe
we can keep it in space for longer. We could also take it higher up.
Furthermore, these V-2 rockets could be very helpful in massacres in war and to commit a
wide scale attack under the radar. The V-2 rocket was astronomically powerful and cause major
damage in places around the globe. Although very few were launched the damage caused was
very high. In Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan bombs were dropped and immediately after Japan

surrendered. This occurred during World War II and if WW III were ever to take place we could
easily handle it with this bomb. For example ,This was the V-2, or Vengeance Weapon Two as it
was called by Josef Goebbels's Nazi Propaganda Ministry. It carried a 1-tonne warhead, and the
fact that the rocket was silent, and so often hit without warning, made it devastating
psychologically as well as physically.(New Scientist. 9/6/2014, Vol. 223 Issue 2985, p48-48. 1p.
1 Black and White Photograph. Mick OHare) The V-2 rocket could help silence a country or a
terrorist group territory. If we could get all ISIS members in one spot we could secretly launch a
V-2 rocket to kill them all. It killed many people and caused havoc all over. It killed many
innocent people for no good reason and can be called inhuman. This killed families and the
survivors or injured lost much of their family and loses their good health. Although there is no
exact figure, estimates suggest that several thousand people were killed by the missile 2,724 in
Britain alone. However, a far grimmer statistic is that many more, at least 20,000, died
constructing the V2s themselves.(Richard Hollingham) This killing would be cruel. The
bombing would kill many innocent people and it should not be used. Even though it was used to
cause mass destruction it could be used to stop wars because of its destruction. The V weapons
the V1 and V2 were used towards the end of World War Two with such an effect that the
attacks on London became known as the second Blitz. The success of D-Day had speeded up the
production of the V weapons and the first V1 was launched on June 13th, just one week after the
Allied landings at Normandy.(Here) The V-2 rocket still was very successful and so Britain,
Soviet, and US could use it to hurt enemies and silence a war for good. It could make one
surrender.
Next, it would help the energy crisis and give a good fuel. Today many people use cars.
Carns need energy just like everything else in today's world. To get this energy people burn non
renewable fuels such as oil. These oils hurt the earth and it take lots of damage to get these fuels.
The V-2 rocket was powered by bio-gasses which dont hurt the earth. Fuelled by liquid ethanol
and oxygen, it was much more sophisticated that anything built before and effectively the
worlds first space rocket.(Richard Hollingham) The rocket could be used as a good source of
energy and fuel. We can do this without creating a gas bioproduct that can harm the environment.
The biogas combustion gas is unstable. When the 2 liquids are combined at high pressure they
may combust. The explosion could be very big and it could injure many people. Combustion
instabilities have long been recognized as one of the most difficult problems in the development
of liquid propellant rocket engine. Although their existence probably predated even the
invention of the V-2 rocket.(Here) Google Scholars. The gas is unstable and hard to contain. The
byproduct will be known as a biogas. This is hard to contain and be made into a gas. Although it
is unstable it is good for the environment. Renewable natural gas (RNG), or biomethane, is a
pipeline-quality gas that is fully interchangeable with conventional natural gas and thus can be
used in natural gas vehicles. (http://www.afdc.energy.gov/fuels/natural_gas_renewable.html)
The gas is unstable but if we find a way to use it it will be great. It is good for the environment
and does not release anything harmful.
Finally, these projects could make it improve and add theories and ideas to modern day
physics and aerodynamics. The V-2 rocket was built in a very unique way. It was made to cut

through the air and to go higher and faster. This can help add different theories to modern day
physics. Its shape can also help model different rockets. For instance The V-2 had a simple
guidance system using graphite jet vanes to deflect the exhaust and air vanes to control roll. "The
rocket launched vertically with its engine firing for only a minute," says Neufeld. "The inertial
guidance system in the nose was controlled by gyroscopes. It tipped the rocket over until it was
at an angle of about 45 degrees, and travelling at 5600 kilometres per hour. The system had an
accelerometer to ensure the engine cut out at the right speed."It tumbled in space but when it reentered the atmosphere, its fins kept the nose pointing forwards like a dart. Because it travelled
faster than the speed of sound, it could not be heard until it hit -- hence the terrifying silence.
(New Scientist. 9/6/2014, Vol. 223 Issue 2985, p48-48. 1p. 1 Black and White Photograph. Mick
OHare)The V-2 rocket broke many barriers and it fueled people to study more about Physics
and Aerodynamics. It can evolutional the world not just technologically but academically. The
rockets navigational system was not good and inaccurate. The guidance system was only a
gyroscope and was not accurate. It is not good and can be used again especially when sending
men to the moon and when launching bombs. This caused the targets not to get hit. Many
innocent people died because of this and caused much havoc on sub-urban and rural locations.
The guidance system on it too. They took a very simple approach. They would use a compass
heading and aim it at London.(The V2 Rocket- how it works - guidance) The guidance system on
the rocket was not very good. This means that it could be luck and have nothing to do with
Physics on how the rocket impacted the world. Although the guidance system was in accurate it
used the wind to carry it up into space and back down giving it a little precision and it still would
hit the intended target just not right on the dot. It would fly to where the engine shut off because
it ran out of fuel and it would begin to fall to earth. It was not very accurate but it was enough to
cause a great deal of devastation and havoc.(The V2 Rocket- how it works - guidance) . Even
Though the guidance system was bad it could be better. We could improve it and will all the gaps
that it had.
All in all, the V-2 rocket should be used to revolutionize the world and send it into a new
age of technology. The V-2 rocket will expand our knowledge on the previously unknown world
of space. It will greatly assist us when helping commit a wide scale attack under the radar. Due to
the biogas used it will result in the end of the production of fossil fuels. Finally it will improve
and add theories to modern day physics and aerodynamics. Wernher von Braun was a genius and
his idea of a fossil free rocket revolutionized many aspects of daily life that we dont usually
encounter.
