Fear. A fear is something that everyone has, whether it be of something or someone. Many
different successful leaders were feared, and listened to. Men and women end up making
careers out of becoming feared such as King Henry VIII and Vlad Dracula, King Henry
created a new religion that people still follow today and Dracula is held high in romania. All
of these people have household names that are taught daily in schools all around the world.
In the case of being a leader, being feared by the people will help a leader be listened to, be
respected, gain more citizens, despite the fact that one may not be the softest leader.
First of all, being a feared leader can help one become a more respected and listened
to leader, in Nero's case, he was a leader who was amazing until he was traumatized by
finding out his mother didn't like the way he ruled, so she decided to spread many rumors
around. Nero was able to find someone to kill his mother quietly and for free because no one
could say no to him.

says, Nero reported to the senate that his
mother had plotted to have him killed, forcing him to act first. The senate didn't appear to
regret her removal at all which shows that he was able to execute her and save his title so
her rumors didn't catch onto the citizens. On the other hand, he did do this for a selfish
reason, PBS explains, His dominating mother, Agrippina, had already murdered

to
see her son on the throne. She quickly poisoned Neros main rival, Claudius son, Britannicus.
which shows that he got his passion for throne from his mother, so it wasn't completely his
fault. Many leader such as Hitler have been in situations like this.
Another feared leader was Hitler was a man who thought that anyone who wasn't
German did not deserve to live. Hitler did not have the best track record but he was well
respected and was able to convince a whole German empire to kill around 11 million people,
6 million being jews and 5 million being jews. The Jewish Virtual Library states Still in power
when Hitler arrived in Vienna, Lueger promoted an anti semitism that was more practical
and organizational than ideological. Nevertheless, it reinforced anti-Jewish stereotypes and
cast Jews as enemies of the German middle and lower classes. which shows that he used his
religion to gain millions of followers, not all for bad. Even though Hitler was being
hypocritical because he was part Jewish, he did at the time think it was the right thing.

says, Adolf Hitler commits suicide by swallowing a cyanide capsule and
shooting himself in the head. Soon after, Germany unconditionally surrendered to the Allied
forces, ending Hitler's dreams of a 1,000-year Reich which shows that he killed himself after
realizing the big mistake he made. Just like John Wilkes Booth, Hitler was a man who didn't
know what to do after what had already concurred.
Moving on to another leader, John Wilkes Booth was the man who shot and killed Abe
Lincoln in the middle of a theatre show. After killing Abe Lincoln his side in the war had a
better chance of winning because of him. Booth was a talented actor and threw it all down
the drain to commit a crime to up his chances at the Southern side winning the war.

.org relates by saying, Booth fired a single shot (timed so that that the
audiences laughter would mask the report) into Lincolns brain at point-blank range before
jumping to the stage and escaping into the night. After a two-week manhunt, Federal troops

cornered Booth in a barn in Maryland, where a Union soldier shot him in the neck. Booth died
two hours later. which shows that the fact that he was an actor made it easier for him to get
where Lincoln was. Even though it was a little extreme to assassinate him, he did do it for the
benefit during the civil war.

states, Herold had boldly declared, "We are the assassinators of the
President. Yonder is J. Wilkes Booth, the man who killed Lincoln." which shows that they
thought it was important to them and still decided to turn themselves in before they were
labeled as traitors. It shows that it was important for them to show who they wanted to be
even if it meant being shot and killed by the local authorities.
In conclusion, being feared as a leader is better than being loved. In many instances
feared leaders had a longer dynasty had better outcomes. Being feared helps a person
become more powerful, helps one become listened to, and makes one a stronger and more
powerful person.
